Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Vice President of Business Development and Strategy to lead our federal government business growth and strategic initiatives. This role involves identifying and capitalizing on new business opportunities within the federal government sector, building strategic partnerships, and driving business expansion. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of federal procurement processes, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record in strategic planning and execution specifically tailored to federal government operations. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development and growth strategies focused on the federal government sector. 

  • Align business development efforts with the company’s overall strategic goals and objectives, ensuring relevance to federal government needs and priorities. 

  • Drive the execution and sustainment of strategic initiatives across the organization, with a focus on federal contracts and projects. 

  • Identifying Growth Opportunities: 

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities, emerging trends, and potential markets within the federal government sector. 

  • Analyze federal budgets, procurement policies, and spending patterns to uncover growth opportunities. 

  • Develop business cases for new ventures, products, or services targeting federal agencies. 

  • Building Strategic Partnerships: 

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in federal agencies, prime contractors, and industry partners. 

  • Negotiate and finalize strategic partnerships and teaming agreements that enhance the company’s competitive positioning within the federal sector. 

  • Represent the company at federal government industry events, conferences, and meetings. 

  • Proposal Development and Management: 

  • Lead the development and submission of high-quality proposals in response to federal government solicitations. 

  • Oversee the proposal management process, ensuring compliance with all federal requirements and deadlines. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop compelling and compliant proposals tailored to federal government needs. 

  • Client Acquisition and Retention: 

  • Identify and approach potential federal clients to generate new business opportunities. 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing federal clients to ensure satisfaction and loyalty. 

  • Develop and implement strategies for client retention and expansion of services within the federal government sector. 

  • Data-Driven Strategy Development: 

  • Utilize data and market insights to inform strategic planning and business development efforts. 

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of business development initiatives within the federal sector and adjust strategies as needed. 

  • Set and achieve targets for revenue growth, market share, and profitability from federal contracts. 

  • Leadership and Team Development: 

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing business development and strategy team focused on the federal government sector. 

  • Provide strategic guidance, support, and professional development opportunities for team members. 

  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven team culture. 

  • Performance Monitoring and Reporting: 

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of business development and strategic initiatives within the federal government sector. 

  • Prepare and present regular reports on business development and strategic activities, progress, and outcomes to senior leadership. 

  • Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve performance. 

Qualifications: 

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, public administration, or a related field. An MBA or other advanced degree is preferred. 

  • Experience: Extensive experience in strategic planning and execution within the federal government space. Experience in business development, sales, or marketing within the federal government sector. Proven track record of securing and managing large federal contracts.  

Skills: 

  • In-depth knowledge of federal procurement processes, regulations, and compliance requirements. 

  • Strong analytical and research skills. 

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills. 

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with federal agencies, prime contractors, and industry partners. 

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities tailored to federal government operations.

Pay:

$216,000.00 - $324,000.00 + Eligible for Variable Compensation Plan
