Group Reporting Team
The Group Finance financial reporting team collects, prepares and fully explains R&Co Group’s external and internal reporting to management and investors. We have close relationships with both the business finance teams, who submit data to us, and who we help with accounting issues; the Group Systems team, with whom we work closely regarding our consolidation and reporting tools; and other Group functions who use our data. The team is also the Group’s technical accounting department and are thereby involved in many of the group’s strategic and corporate finance initiatives.
There is a full-time vacancy in the team, which comprises five experienced accounting professionals.
Main Duties
- Critically review and understand financial accounts data received from subsidiaries, so that we can fully explain them to the Group CFO/ investor relations team/ Group risk etc
- Play a key role in the consolidation sub-team, which produces consolidations for the Group accounts and for the management reporting. These are integral to the reports used for the Group’s board pack and in the external reporting to investors
- Own other specified working papers to support different notes in the accounts. We produce these based on modelling principles, which reduces errors and aids review and common working.
- Communicate with and assist accountants from our three businesses with queries and training
Additional Duties
- Project work. As an example, we are integral to a major current Group Finance system development, particularly in relation to reporting tools and consolidation accounting. The successful candidate would work on the testing and design of this.
- As we are at the centre of the Group, we need to understand the new products/ transactions etc of all our businesses. For example, we often make acquisitions, and the successful candidate will contribute to accounting papers on these, following discussions with business CFOs and auditors.
- Assist in maintaining the Group’s consolidation system
- Liaise with Group Finance management and systems accountants on topics of joint interest
- Form a good working relationship with auditors and with key accountants in the Group, assisting and developing them. This may involve travel in Europe
- Assist with other matters as required
Requirements
- A background in accounting (eg ACA or equivalent)
- Evidence of strong academics
- Presentation skills (written and oral)
- Ability to write and speak French would be desirable
- Teamwork: the team works flexibly to support each other and to produce all our work under common standards
- We are often faced with unusual “one-off” accounting issues and situations. The successful candidate would enjoy this challenge.
- An interest in understanding complex subjects (with an aim of explaining them to a non-expert)
- A “can-do” attitude
