Design Evaluation Engineer – Magnetic Sensors

The mission of the Magnetic Sensor (MAG) team within the Industrial & Healthcare organization, is to develop highly innovative, differentiated and industry leading magnetic sensing technology for our target markets.  The novel and ground-breaking sensor products are defined and developed at ADI’s European Research and Development Centre leveraging proprietary processes in the Limerick Fab, meeting the emerging needs of our strategic customers.

To help us accelerate our ambitious goals in bringing these emerging technologies to commercial success, the MAG team is seeking a highly driven and dynamic engineer to work as an Evaluation Engineer for Length Sensor & Multi-Turn products. 

Role Description

The role of the Design Evaluation Engineer is to work on the development of new product solutions in the area of magnetic sensing technologies.

The successful candidate will become an integral part of the product development team, assuming responsibility for developing innovative, high performance, hardware and software measurement solutions for our leading edge product portfolio of xMR based Multiturn, Position & Length Sensors offerings. As well as the traditional electrical measurements associated with the Eval role, our products require precise magnetic stimulation using permanent and electrically generated magnetic fields and bespoke manipulation jigs. The development of such setups is part of the responsibilities of the Eval Engineer, carried out with the support of a mechanical engineer and magnetics experts within the group.

Responsibilities:

  • Development of innovative and precision magnetic stimulus and measurement systems with aspects of mechanical, PCB and lab bench setup design.

  • Debug, evaluation and characterization of both standalone sensors and ASICs with integrated sensor, including creation of eval/char plans, data collection & analysis and generating/presenting technical reports.

  • Robustness testing including ESD, EMI/EMC, Latch UP, Max Ratings, POR testing, etc.

  • Interface with Design, Fab, Assembly, Application and Test Development Engineers as part of an overall product development team.

The Candidate:


The ideal candidate should have a good knowledge of Analogue and Digital Electronics, be able to work well within a team, and show initiative and willingness to learn:

  • BS or MS degree in EE or ECE, or equivalent.

  • Knowledge of software languages including C/C# and Python or LabView.

  • Strong teamwork, inter-personal and communication skills are essential.

  • A keen interest in mixed signal electronics, from both a hardware & software perspective.
