As Global Head of R&D Development delivery within our Controlling – R&D Team you’ll drive operational excellence in financial controlling across Pharma and Vaccines development activities, overseeing an annual OPEX portfolio of €3 billion.

This strategic role leads a global team of 25 controllers across three strategic hubs (Bogota, Budapest, and Kuala Lumpur), including direct management of 2 managers. Managing a complex portfolio of 150+ clinical development projects, the position ensures financial accuracy and control across multiple therapeutic areas in both Pharma and Vaccines divisions. The role plays a crucial role in transforming the organization through capability building and process excellence, with particular focus on OneCasa (TM1) expertise development and standardization of processes across 3 global delivery centers. The incumbent will be responsible for driving operational efficiency and maintaining quality standards while managing a team structure spanning 3 time zones and supporting 2 major R&D business units (Pharma and Vaccines).

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead financial controlling for a €3 billion global Development budget covering 150+ clinical projects across Pharma and Vaccines.
  • Oversee accurate financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and provide strategic insights to guide decision-making.
  • Act as key financial partner to R&D Development and global leadership teams, ensuring strategic alignment and effective communication.
  • Strengthen relationships with regional hubs and in-country finance teams to support global operations and governance.
  • Drive process excellence by standardizing practices, implementing OneCasa tools, and enhancing efficiency in CMC financial operations.
  • Champion transformation initiatives to elevate project controlling capabilities and build specialized R&D financial expertise.
  • Ensure full compliance with financial policies, procedures, and audit requirements, proactively managing risks.
  • Monitor performance metrics, ensure quality standards, and continuously improve controlling practices across the organization.
  • Provide financial leadership in cross-functional projects and key business initiatives, influencing long-term R&D investment decisions.
  • Foster collaboration across Finance, R&D, and Operations to enable data-driven decisions and continuous improvement.

About you

Experience: Solid experience in financial controlling and leading multicultural teams. Previous experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry is required, along with a strong understanding of R&D operations.

  • Proven ability to lead with vision, set strategic direction and aligning diverse, global teams to enterprise goals.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple levels and geographies.
  • Experienced in driving transformational change and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • High emotional intelligence, leadership presence, and the ability to inspire trust and collaboration.
  • Skilled in developing and coaching teams, ensuring strong talent pipelines and future-ready capabilities.
  • Adept at navigating complex, cross-functional, and multicultural environments with clear, impactful communication.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial controlling, budgeting, and forecasting for R&D operations.
  • Proven track record in project financial management and clinical trial cost analysis.
  • Expertise in performance measurement, KPI tracking, and process optimization.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical development and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems, data analysis, and financial reporting tools.
  • Deep experience in risk management, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and alignment with global finance standards.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field
