THE JOURNEY

 

This role is a critical People Manager position responsible for defining and executing the labor relations and legal compliance strategy across the company, with a crucial focus on our largest employee base in Spain. You will lead a small team to ensure legal integrity and foster positive labor relations.

  • Lead and develop a team of 3 People Advisors, delegating responsibilities, setting performance goals, and ensuring their professional growth.
  • Implement and ensure compliance with Spanish and relevant international labor regulations within the Company.
  • Be the main point of contact for the People Team, managers, and external legal counsel in topics related to Employment Law, particularly within the Spanish context.
  • Draft operating rules, contract proposals, and counter-proposals for labor negotiations with employees, management leaders, and other collective bargaining parties.
  • Interpret legal contracts and Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) to ensure compliance with contract provisions, wage laws, and standard regulations.
  • Provide guidance to the business and People Partners in terms of disciplinary sanction policies, ensuring alignment with Spanish legal frameworks.
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance on labor inspection topics (especially Spanish Labor Inspectorate requirements).
  • Address work grievances. Work to resolve conflicts and communication difficulties. Handle collective bargaining and negotiate to prevent legal action and address worker complaints.
  • Advise the People department on any doubts or problems that arise in people matters, after analyzing the tools at your disposal (regulations, agreement, disciplinary regime, etc.).
  • Implement training for Managers and the People Department on relevant labor law and best practices.
  • Responsible for the correct implementation of hiring, disciplinary procedures, dismissals, and compensation
  • Develop and implement the disciplinary process in investigations, recommendations, and corrective actions.
  • Establishes and maintains productive relations with Workers Representatives and Works Committees.
  • Translating business strategy into People strategy.
  • Manage and develop continuous improvements to programs, measures, and controls in accordance with regulatory changes and industry requirements.
  • Actively collaborate with your colleagues and learn from each other in a supportive environment that allows you to grow, develop and make a difference

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE RIDE

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law, specifically studied in Spain, with a specialization in Labor Law.
  • Essential: Deep and current knowledge of Spanish labor regulations and legislation, payment and control of payroll, and labor relations.
  • Experience of at least 7 years in a similar senior position or function is essential.
  • A minimum of 3 years of proven experience managing and leading a team of People/HR or legal professionals.
  • Experience in representation of Company Committees and negotiation of collective agreements.
  • Experience in managing labor relations in companies with different groups and areas of application.
  • Experience in highly demanding environments.
  • Essential: Fluency in both English and Spanish, with perfect verbal and written communication in both languages required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills at all levels.
  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • A 'business first' attitude, paired with strong ethical integrity.
  • Ability to adapt, execute 360º, and coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Legal, People Operations).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work with significant autonomy.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills.
  • An empathetic, inclusive, and curious attitude.
