Position Overview:

Under the direction of the ABG President, the General Manager is responsible to manage and coordinate all aspects of Thunder Jet business including manufacturing, engineering, product development, marketing, human resources, finance, customer service and purchasing. This role is also responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the facility.  The General Manager will be required to predictably attain or exceed all operational goals and financial goals for the facility.  Responsibilities include quality, cost, delivery, safety and morale, with an emphasis on continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and lead a cross-functional group representing manufacturing, product development, engineering, purchasing, human resources, finance, customer service and marketing
  • Tactical management of the business planning cycle inclusive of market pricing:  This includes forecasting, backlog management, incentive plans, customer visits, quoting and execution of orders sufficient to drive the sales and production plans
  • Work with sales team and customers to ensure satisfaction with the product and service provided
  • Generation and execution of a business unit strategic and tactical plans
  • Coordination and integration of new product development process with defined Charters and Phase Gate Process
  • Assist team to resolve issues/remove barriers and create a positive working culture
  • Effectively manage fiscal sales and marketing budgets
  • Develop operational and team goals aligned with business and financial plans, lead and coordinate team to execute these plans
  • Create, monitor and maintain production schedules to meet all customer delivery requirements, coordinate schedules across functions and manufacturing areas
  • Lead & execute plant performance metrics (e.g., productivity), institute processes and metrics to measure and monitor performance (and to communicate to all levels of the organization)
  • Direct materials management activities to ensure optimal parts presentation and inventory levels
  • Develop operational and facility plans for both near-term and long-term to include capital, human resources, and process strategies.
  • Review overall labor and material requirements to minimize costs without jeopardizing necessary functions and customer delivery (and quality) requirements
  • Create a culture of making problems visible and provide the coaching to address problems quickly
  • Establish and manage budgets and targets for facility
  • Be the champion for employee safety. Ensure facility is consistent with Brunswick policies and procedures and all regulatory agencies state, federal and local
  • Create and maintain a continuous improvement culture
  • Achieve or exceed financial goals for the facility
  • Lead and participate in cost reduction activities supporting annual planning targets

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated cross-functional management capability; matrix management experience required
  • Ability to produce results with dotted line reporting relationships
  • Ability to understand and manage the role and interrelationship of each organization function
  • Ability to play a variety of leadership roles; supporting, delegating, coaching and driving as necessary and appropriate
  • Knowledge and/or experience in operations management
  • Ability to effectively lead new product development and timely execution
  • Ability to travel 15%-25% supporting dealers, boat shows, and all organizational activities

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, Management or other related discipline is required.  An MBA is preferred.
  • 8-10 years’ experience in manufacturing environment with progressive responsibility leading a team, preferably leader of entire operations
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, welding
  • Proven depth of manufacturing experience, VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) experience is desired
  • Experience with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Knowledge of USCG, ABYC, and NMMA standards would be beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills required
  • Working knowledge of project management and related software i.e.: Microsoft Project would be an asset
  • Outstanding analytical and statistical technical skills are required to gather and summarize data to find solutions in product, messaging and services
  • Technical or professional knowledge of business planning, facility planning, and headcount planning is required
  • Ability to build relationships and credibility among key matrixed stake holders

The anticipated pay range for this position is $129,500.00 - $170,000.00 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
