Rotating - 10 Hour (United States of America)

The GI tech performs a variety of duties for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures under the direction of the RN and/or physician. Assist the patient before, and during the procedure by assisting with appropriate hospital clothing, positing patient and providing emotional support as needed. 2 years GI tech experience perfered in a procdural area.
Essential Functions

May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Ensures that consents are signed and notifies RN if adjustments are necessary
Assists physician with procedure including submucosal injection of saline, endoscopic tattooing, passing instruments, and adjusting lights and equipment as requested.
Demonstrates competence in care of specimens, (biopsies, cultures, frozen section) and in the accurate recording, labeling, and handling of specimens at all times.
Obtains and records vital signs, height and weight, vision and hearing testing, and patient history
Performs basic patient screening and documents accordingly. Escalates findings to RN and/or Physician as appropriate.
Prepares patients for exams as necessary. Sets up table, instruments and supplies required for specific procedures ensuring appropriate instruments, scopes and supplies are accurately set up
Follows aseptic techniques when opening sterile supplies and setting up procedures. Discards any contaminated supplies according to written procedure
Coordinates patient care activities with other nurses and physicians as applicable
Explains test, procedures and disease process to patient/family and follows through with teaching developed by the RN or physician.
Keeps inventory stocked and orders supplies, narcotics and medication.
Partnering with RN and/or physician evaluates the effectiveness of nursing interventions, revises patient care plan based on evaluation and RN and/or physician's direction.
Attends meetings and serves on departmental and/or hospital committees as assigned
Assists with departmental reporting, quality
Restocks room as required

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Graduate
2. College level education desirable.
3. BLS required
4. Ability to read, write and understand English language.
5. Current liscense and 2 years experience perfered in GI lab
6. GI experience required

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $31.94 - $41.20 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
