Gameday Operations Coordinator (Seasonal)

The Gameday Operations Coordinator (Seasonal) position is an opportunity for aspiring candidates to support the Baseball Operations department with several aspects of Gameday Operations across all 30 Major League ballparks. This includes providing real-time support and oversight for the consistent execution of the Pitch Clock, and providing essential support in collaboration with on-site monitors to ensure adherence to MLB’s gameday compliance regulations. 

Responsibilities

Pitch Clock Operation 

  • Provide support for the operation of the Pitch Clock during Major League games
  • Liaise with Field Timing Coordinators (“FTC”) pre-game and in-game to ensure consistent and accurate Pitch Clock functionality
  • Generate daily and weekly reports for internal distribution to the Commissioner's Office, Umpires, and FTCs
  • Conduct in-game evaluations to assess FTC performance and provide structured feedback on the execution of Pitch Clock Regulations
  • Track Pitch Clock data and trends throughout the season and analyze their potential implications

Gameday Compliance 

  • Support MLB’s Gameday Compliance program, which includes proper monitoring and oversight of key operational regulations such as baseball storage and handling protocols, sign-stealing and electronic use regulations, PitchCom protocols, and other critical areas
  • Provide pre-game and in-game support and supervision of Gameday Compliance Monitors (“GCM”) who are on-site during all Major League Games
  • Communicate effectively with GCMs to provide guidance and address questions and issues that arise
  • Review GCM reports and appropriately escalate violations and issues within the Baseball Operations Department
  • Help to manage MLB’s Baseball Compliance Portal to monitor trends, flag notable issues and concerns, and create and distribute daily reports to the Baseball Operations Department.

General Support & Administration 

  • Provide real-time updates to the Commissioner's Office regarding all Pitch Clock and Gameday Compliance-related situations
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally to support day-to-day operational needs and relevant projects

Qualifications & Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and respectfully in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment 
  • Must be detail oriented and have strong administrative, organizational, and writing skills 
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment 
  • Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and neutrality at all times including when working with and around MLB Umpires and MLBOC employees 
  • Must have strong reasoning abilities and critical thinking skills 
  • Must have clear and precise writing skills 
  • Strong knowledge of MLB rules and baseball specific language 
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel  

 Preferred Skills (Not required)

  • The ability to identify MLB players and managers 
  • Previous experience working in baseball 

Schedule

  • Candidate must be able to work nights and weekends during the season
  • Candidate can work 32-40 hours per week 

Pay Rate: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
