This job is primarily responsible for the trading and risk management of a pre-set group of structures and managed contract offerings. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, using futures and options transaction to manage in a fast-paced environment providing regular market analysis, and offering service and support to our trading and origination staffs. Specifically, this individual will be responsible for executing the entry hedge on all new program bushels for programs designated to manage. Utilize futures and options daily to hedge price risk and maximize profit achieved as well as interpret and educate others on risks, providing direction and making daily decisions as it pertains to the programs managed.

  • Create, implement, and support the team business plan to include strategy, asset utilization, market development, strategic alignment with the organization, and current objectives
  • Analyze and communicate market trends and information
  • Monitor risk curves and positions daily on all programs to ensure optimal positions
  • Execute the entry hedge on all new program bushels under designated programs to manage
  • Continually monitor and analyze markets to balance a bias and/or understand potential risk points on the curves
  • Provide reports, explanations, and updates to the group on positions and trades tied to the managed programs
  • Develop innovative ways to manage programs more efficiently to maximize profit potential
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships, as well as maintain ongoing and regular communications with internal/external customers to enhance strong business relationships
  • Create additional revenue by leveraging optimal strategies
  • Act as backup for Customer Risk Manager and Trader
  • Ensure compliance with all company, federal, and industry regulations
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

Required - Bachelor's degree, preferably in Finance, Accounting, or a related agriculture or business field

Experience

Required – 3 year’s industry experience in merchandising commodities and/or trading

Preferred – Futures trading experience

  • Ability to define and understand factors leading to market dynamics.

  • Basic computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills to develop knowledge of market prices, trends, and future direction with ability to use this knowledge to make sound business decisions.
  • Strong quantitative, problem solving, and resolutions skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable regulations.
  • Strong organizational, strategic planning, time management and multi-tasking skills, with ability to remain flexible to changing priorities.
  • Good time management and organization skills.
  • Ability to work extended hours, as needed.

Physical Demands & Requirements

Sedentary work.  Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.  Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Hearing.  Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.  Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discriminations in sound.

The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.

The physical environment requires the employee to work inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold; moderate noise; a normal office environment.

Occasional travel for off-site trainings, meetings, & customer visits.

The expected base pay range for this role is:

$93,100.00 - $124,000.00

Actual pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including work location, job-related knowledge, skills and relevant experience for the job. Pay amount does not guarantee employment for any particular period of time.
