As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, engineer and run our capabilities for the Network Automation and Orchestration Tools stack for network and perimeter products and platforms that enable highly distributed global business for site, fleet, asset and IoT connectivity, required to deliver against our strategy. A globally focused shipping and transportation organisation is continuing to drive an ambitious and complex change and transformational programme to deliver a service of excellence for its customers and clients worldwide.  The Global CTIO has a mandate from the Maersk board to lead the Technology transformation of Maersk which will enable the Maersk business strategy to become the global integrator of container logistics through digitising the Maersk business processes and customer engagement.

Why this job matters?

The Network OSS Engineering function is essential to our transformation, it is a central team within Network Architecture & Engineering, responsible for the delivery of product roadmaps, technical vision and quality across Fulfilment and Assurance that underpin our network and perimeter capabilities and products.

Reporting to the Senior OSS Engineering  Manager you will serve as a Senior Software Engineer, ensuring that our systems and tools for the network OSS realise business value. Your role is responsible for technical design and delivery of solutions across the network OSS applications landscape from Planning to analytics driven AIOps. All built to industry leading standards and running seamlessly across various cloud and on-prem platforms, allowing frictionless and seamless operations of our network and perimeter platforms.

Scope

The Network OSS team at Maersk is responsible for enabling, automating, and enhancing the management of data networks across Core, Edge, and Cloud locations (offices, warehouses, terminals, vessels, data centres, cloud environments, etc). Our scope includes orchestration, observability, assurance, and the development of network management platforms and tools to ensure end-to-end service reliability and operational efficiency.

Key areas include but are not limited to:

• Automation & Orchestration: Design and implementation of workflows and systems to automate provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and assurance of network services.
• Tooling & Platform Development: Building scalable internal tools for network inventory, monitoring, telemetry collection, event correlation, and intent-based management.
• Assurance & Monitoring: End-to-end visibility and health monitoring of WAN, LAN, and wireless networks with integrated alerting and analytics capabilities.
• Inventory Management: Development and maintenance of a real-time, unified network inventory to support lifecycle and incident management.
• Integration & Observability: Ingesting, processing, and enriching telemetry, syslogs, traps, and alarms from:
  • Wireless Transport: Satellite | 4G/LTE | 5G
  • IoT Networking: Industrial Wi-Fi
  • WAN: Internet | IP/MPLS | Next-Gen/SD WAN
  • LAN: DC Networking | SDN | Fixed & Wireless
  • Perimeter: Load balancers | NG Firewalls | Security Service Edge

Specific Job Requirements

We are seeking a Software Engineer with a product mindset and enthusiasm for building scalable and resilient network automation tools. This role is ideal for an early-career engineer looking to grow in backend development, automation, and infrastructure systems.

You will work as part of a cross-functional team to develop tools and services that support network automation, assurance, and orchestration across Core, Edge, and Cloud platforms.

You will:

• Collaborate with senior engineers, product owners, and network SMEs to develop internal tools and automation solutions.
• Contribute to the design and development of backend services using Python and modern web frameworks like FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Build and integrate APIs for telemetry, topology, and configuration management services.
• Assist in building microservices-based applications that are modular, scalable, and reliable.
• Write and maintain unit tests using PyTest or unittest to ensure code quality and robustness.
• Support containerization and deployment of services using Docker and CI/CD pipelines.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Python, with solid understanding of object-oriented programming and data structures.
• Experience with REST APIs and backend frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Understanding of databases, including experience with relational systems like PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQLite.
• Familiarity with ORM tools such as SQLAlchemy or Django ORM.
• Basic DevOps knowledge, including GitHub workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker containerization.
• Test-driven development mindset, with exposure to PyTest or similar frameworks.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities in a team-oriented environment.

• Exposure to microservices architecture and performance optimization techniques.
• Experience working on network automation or infrastructure tools.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and modern software engineering practices.
