The Role

We are seeking a motivated and conscientious individual who is interested in working in Financial Services and wishes to pursue a career in Risk Management. The successful applicant will become an integral part of the Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Framework & Reporting team within the M&G plc Risk function and be provided with the mentoring and training to develop their career.

The M&G plc Risk function is responsible for effectively advising and challenging key stakeholders, challenging risks effectively and proactively, and adding value through providing enhanced business insights to ensure that risk is managed in line with the expectations of clients, shareholders and regulators, and to support the delivery of customers’ long term needs.

The Enterprise Risk Reporting & ICARA team develops and produces internal and external risk reporting and disclosures. The team also leads, coordinates and manages a range of risk management processes including policy governance and the solvency and liquidity assessments for the Asset Management business (the ICARA).

The Framework & Reporting Junior Risk Analyst assists in the development, implementation and embedding of the risk and policy governance frameworks, training to business areas and reporting of the key components of the risk framework to executive and board risk and audit committees and for external disclosures. The role works closely with the oversight teams in delivering the risk framework.

Key Responsibilities for this Role:

Role Specific

  • Lead on the delivery and ongoing development of monthly reporting and analysis to support the assessment of the control environment.
  • Contribute to the delivery and ongoing development of the internal / external risk reporting undertaken on a regular basis for Board Committees and external audiences, including regulators, clients and shareholders.
  • Support the delivery of the annual Operational Risk Scenario exercise and the ICARA.
  • Support the team's deliverables outside of those related to current role.

Enterprise Risk Reporting & ICARA team Generic:

  • Be personally accountable for adhering to required standards of conduct and identifying, assessing, managing and reporting risks within your area of responsibility, including supporting formal risk management activities and complying with M&G’s Policy Framework e.g. contributing to Risk & Control Self Assessments, identifying and managing conflicts of interest and timely closure of issues and actions.
  • Demonstrate how you use our values and behaviours to deliver your personal/team objectives in support of our strategic drivers.
  • Working with a large network of stakeholders across the Group to enable the delivery of key activities.
  • Assisting in coordinating the development and assisting the oversight team in the delivery of training to M&G plc risk professionals, senior management and the business.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Knowledge - Knowledge of risk management in financial services (essential).
  • Knowledge - Strong written and verbal communication skills (essential).
  • Knowledge - Knowledge of enterprise risk reporting requirements, policies and standards, and risk training (desirable).
  • Skills – Experience in using Microsoft Office packages - in particular Excel, PowerPoint and Word (essential).
  • Skills – Ability to work with a network of stakeholders across the Group to enable the delivery of key activities (essential).
