Job Summary: The Food Services Manager is responsible for operational management and oversight of department functions and resources as they relate to areas such as patient meal services, retail food service operations, clinical nutrition, department software management, catering, purchasing and distribution of food and supplies.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree. Minimum 10 years of food service management experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Oklahoma Food Handler’s Permit or Food Service Manager Certification. Dietitian Registration, preferred.
Work Experience: Minimum 1 year related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of Microsoft 365 and other applicable software. Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills and detail oriented. Ability to administer/supervise departmental operations, including budgeting, staffing and interdepartmental relations. Strong ability to multitask and think critically.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Ensures that patient meals comply with nutritional goals as outlined in the approved Nutrition Care Manual and/or physician orders. Performs new hire interviews, provides for structured orientation and training, conducts employee performance reviews, counsels and provides disciplinary action in accordance with defined organizational guidelines. Develops, implements, and evaluates departmental policies and standards of operation to maintain compliance with city, state, federal, and accrediting requirements. Monitors patient and customer satisfaction scores, and adjusts menu, food procurement, and production for improvements. Accountable for budget planning and managing operational costs, while planning for potential capital expenses. Responsible for cash management and profitability in retail areas. Establishes and monitors staffing levels and performance to facilitate meeting department goals and objectives within defined budgetary parameters.
Decision Making: Independent judgment in making decisions from many diversified alternatives that are subject to general review in final stages only.
Working Relationships: Direct Supervision of others. Prepares and gives performance evaluations. Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
