Fluidics Engineer, Biosensors


The Biosensors Group, is part of the Digital Healthcare Business Unit and are developing a portfolio of sensor platforms that will enable new business franchises for ADI. Current projects include precision sensing platforms targeted for the Therapeutics and Genomics markets.

We are currently looking for an experienced Fluidics Verification Engineer to join the Systems verification, and validation (V&V) team in Limerick, Ireland. The primary responsibility is to support the characterisation and V&V testing of fluidics components in the developing sensor systems. In this role the Engineer will be a critical member of the cross-functional team to commercialize our novel biosensing products. The role involves a wide variety of activities, ranging from concept generation to the development & implementation of fluidics test applications, and the design/execution of characterisation & verification tests for the Final product design. A successful candidate will be expected to work in close collaboration with both the Sensor & Fluidics Design teams, the Characterisation and Industrial test teams, and the Applications development team.

Roles & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:

  • Collaborate with the System Architects, Sensor Designers, Characterisation, Test and Reliability Engineers, Manufacturing Organisations and Application development teams to:
    • Support the Verification & Validation of the Fluidics Systems
    • Drive the fabrication and implementation of the V&V test rigs & setups.
    • Support the definition and execution of appropriate tests for all stages of the fluidic system development.
  • Manage interactions with external partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Research and stay current on new and emerging technologies.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Physics or Chemistry with 3+ years of relevant industrial experience
  • Experience developing or working with test rigs or instrumentation for fluidic systems.
  • Ability to work at a high level of performance both in a team environment and independently.
  • Excellence in oral, written, presentation, collaboration, and inter-personal skills.
  • High levels of motivation and creativity, with an outgoing, positive attitude.
  • An inquisitive nature and willingness to tackle multiple disciplinary challenges.

Advantageous Skills

  • Experience developing diagnostic or life science products with fluid handling.
  • Experience with electrochemical, optical, or other chemical/biosensors.
  • Experience with analytical and numerical modelling and mechanical design software tools
