11/19Provo City is looking for a part-time librarian to work on an on-call basis to provide professional library service including providing programs, activities, and general services for library patrons.Job Detail
Pay Rate: $21.00 - $24.96 per hour (depending on experience)
What will I do?
Assist patrons in selecting, locating, and using materials and equipment, including automated catalog and circulation systems and both printed and online indexes and reference titles.
Answer specific informational requests.
Create bibliographies and booklists to assist patrons with research/reference materials and to offer suggestions for various reading interests.
Resolve problems or refer patrons to proper authority for resolution.
Provide general patron assistance.
Assist in planning and executing library programs, activities, and services.
Attend staff meetings.
Troubleshoot general office machinery and automated peripheral equipment problems.
Perform other related duties as required.
What are the minimum requirements?
Provo City will honor an equivalent combination of job-related education and/or professional librarian experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities [substituting each 1 year of post-secondary education/training for 6 months of full-time experience].
Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school.
OR Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of professional librarian experience.
Preference will be given to individuals with previous experience working as a librarian at the Provo City Library.
A valid, lawful Driver License may be required.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on November 21, 2025. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
