We’re hiring a Fleet Maintenance Auditor to support our Corporate HQ in Columbia, MO and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. This position is fully remote.

The Fleet Maintenance Auditor is responsible for conducting audits on each branch to ensure maintenance compliance issues are addressed in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies. In this role you will aid in improving company efficiency, preventing accidents, protecting drivers, reducing repair costs, avoiding costly oversights and reducing cost of company losses.  

Salary range: $60k-$82k. Factors including past experience and location may affect final compensation rate. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Schedules audits of branches, covering but not limited to DOT compliance and company policies. 
  • Performs branch audits: Audits consist of  PMs and DOT on time completion, work order process, POs, use of preferred vendors  
  • Establishes performance expectations for branches.
  • Provides direction and assistance in the maintenance of the company's transportation fleet.
  • Provides training on DOT regulations and company policies 
  • Establishes local working relationships and develops communication tools in support of the branch goals and objectives. Works closely with local leadership to provide a safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet.
  • Observes and enforces safety regulations, prepares reports on equipment utilization and status of projects, and attends meetings and training sessions.
  • Provides new-hire training covering all aspects of DOT compliance and Company policies 
  • Reviews GPS data for unsafe driver behaviors that could get someone hurt or killed
  • Travels to branchs when an onsite inspection is required
  • Inspect vehicles: Examine vehicle condition, maintenance, and safety
  • Other duties may be assigned

Skills & Qualifications 

  • Understand and manage a comprehensive fleet maintenance program.
  • Understand diagnostics and repair of a wide variety of heavy automotive equipment.
  • Develop and review equipment specifications.
  • Understand DOT regulations
  • Establish metrics, objectives, and operating expectations.
  • Maintain records and reports.
  • Build relationships, communication methods, and conflict resolution.
  • Supervise and train subordinate personnel. Where applicable, assign the work of fleet mechanics

Education and Experience

  • At least 1year of technical or industry experience.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Education or Experience required.
  • Methods, practices, materials, and tools of the equipment mechanic trade.
  • Operating and repair characteristics of a variety of automotive and heavy equipment vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Dot regulations
  • Pre and Post trip inspections 
  • Auditing process
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary in the workplace.
  • Principles of gasoline and diesel engines.
  • Principles and practices of supervision and training.
  • Fleet maintenance record-keeping systems.
  • Principles of budget and fiscal policies.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE OR EXPERIENCE

Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to acquire a CDL as necessary based on job requirements. Maintaining a valid driver’s license is a condition of employment. Understanding of DOT commercial motor vehicle inspections and repair of braking systems as specified by DOT requirements. ASE or state certifications are not required but are recommended. Experience and a working knowledge of Brakes, Manual Drive trains and Axles, Suspension and Steering, Heating and Air Conditioning, electrical systems, Engine Performance, Engine Repair, etc.
