Marvell's Custom Compute and Storage (CCS) team develops silicon and software for some of the largest companies in the world in the growing datacenter, AI, enterprise and carrier markets.

The Firmware team in the CCS BU focuses on developing and integrating key software components that enables use of silicon. These components form a critical subset of the complete software stack, ensuring the silicon's capabilities are effectively utilized. The team's work plays a key role in supporting the broader software ecosystem.

What You Can Expect

  • Develop and maintain firmware for ARM64 SoCs with SerDes-based Ethernet interfaces

  • Work with hardware teams to configure and debug PHYs, MACs, and Ethernet link bring-up

  • Support auto-negotiation and link training for high-speed Ethernet links

  • Develop and integrate PHY drivers

  • Debug issues related to link bring-up, training failures, and SerDes behavior

  • Help with early board bring-up and firmware support for Ethernet interfaces

What We're Looking For

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in firmware development on ARM64 platforms

  • Strong C programming skills for low-level firmware development

  • Good knowledge of Ethernet PHY standards like: 1000BASE-X, 10GBASE-KR, 10G-C2M, 10G-C2C, etc

  • Familiar with IEEE 802.3 standard and related specs

  • Experience with auto-negotiation and link training

  • Hands-on experience using MDIO bus for PHY initialization, register configuration, and link status checking

  • Exposure to optical modules like SFP+ and QSFP+

  • Comfortable with Linux networking, including configuring and debugging Ethernet interfaces

  • Understanding of ATF, and bootloader flows on ARM64

  • Basic understanding of Linux kernel Netdev drivers and utilities such as ethtool

  • Understanding of PCIe and features like SR-IOV
