Job Title: Fire Safety Technical Lead

Working Pattern: Monday – Friday, South of England (covering Midlands through South)

About the Role

This isn’t just another fire risk assessment role. It’s a newly created position with a clear purpose: to help define our fire safety strategy, shape the way we work, and build a function that sets the standard for excellence. If you’re passionate about fire safety and want to play a pivotal role in how services evolve, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact.

What makes this role different?

Strategic influence: You’ll do more than deliver assessments, you’ll help set technical standards, processes, and training aligned to BAFE SP205, ensuring quality and compliance across the business.

Build from the ground up: From templates to service propositions, you’ll help create a robust, scalable fire safety offering that positions us as a trusted technical advisor.

Variety & travel: Covering the Midlands through the South, you’ll spend around 20% of your time on the road, including overnight stays, working on diverse sites and projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Deliver Tier 3 Fire Risk Assessments (T3 FRAs) for complex environments.

  • Mentor consultants nationwide, driving competency and consistency.

  • Define training and development frameworks for our H&S consultancy team.

  • Oversee multi-site fire safety projects and validate FRA reports for accuracy.

  • Keep templates and documentation current with legislation and best practice.

  • Provide technical advice to clients and colleagues and support new service offerings such as fire strategies and specialist consultancy.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum Level 4 Fire Risk Assessment qualification (Level 5 preferred).

  • Strong technical knowledge of fire safety legislation and standards.

  • Experience in complex FRA delivery and mentoring.

  • Flexibility to travel and stay overnight when required.

What do we offer in return?

A career that you define. At Howden, we value diversity – there is no one Howden type. Instead, we’re looking for individuals who share the same values as us:

  • Our successes have all come from someone brave enough to try something new

  • We support each other in the small everyday moments and the bigger challenges

  • We are determined to make a positive difference at work and beyond
