Major Duties:

  • Serves as a system specialist responsible for designing new pay procedures and systems.
  • Participates in monitoring and evaluating Defense Joint Military Pay System-Active/Reserve (DJMS-AC/RC) system changes.
  • Determines the effectiveness and adequacy of systems and to ensure systems developed are responsive to field management and top-level management requirements.
  • Provides training and guidance for converting, implementing, and maintaining payroll and reporting operations and related techniques.
  • Uses financial management theories, practices, methods and techniques to research and write system requirements and identify problems in systems and recommends solutions.
  • Develops test plans and techniques to ensure integrity of new systems and changes.

Qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized experience is defined as: Performing systems analysis, testing and support of automated financial systems; ensuring that financial system design, revisions and modifications comply with financial regulatory requirements; developing test plans and preparing test input situations designed to test financial systems software. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. Applicant must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher grade in Federal Service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
