ING

Financial Business Partner (JG 16)

CDR (Amsterdam - Cedar) Full time

As a technology-enabled and digital-led bank, data is at the heart of everything we do. It powers how we measure risk, assess performance, and make decisions. To ensure we unlock the full value of our data, we must guarantee its completeness, accuracy, auditability, traceability, and protection. The Global Data Organisation serves as the first line of defense in securing robust data chains, working in close collaboration with all functions, business lines, and countries across the Bank.

The Global Chief Data Office (CDO) plays a pivotal role in this mission. As a central organizational unit, the CDO partners with stakeholders across the enterprise to enable frictionless customer journeys, support ESG-driven innovation, and deliver data products that enhance decision-making. With emerging trends such as digital wallets on the horizon and increasing regulatory expectations around data governance, the CDO is evolving to meet these challenges head-on, ensuring our data remains both a strategic asset and a safeguarded resource.

The opportunity

As Financial Business Partner within the CDO Portfolio Office, you will play a pivotal role in shaping financial strategy and execution across the global data organisation. You’ll go beyond traditional financial analysis, partnering with senior stakeholders to challenge ideas, influence decisions, and translate complex financials into actionable insights that drive meaningful change.

You will support the integration of financial management and sourcing activities, enabling stronger coordination and strategic alignment across the global data function. Together with the Financial Controller and the portfolio managers, you’ll contribute to the development of a comprehensive quarterly roadmap, monitor progress against global milestones, and ensure consistent communication and stakeholder engagement across the Bank.

Your work will help maintain a cohesive view of our global portfolio, financials, and data capabilities, translating strategy into execution with clear milestones and measurable impact.

Your responsibilities

As a Finance Business Partner, you are responsible for:

  • Act as a key financial partner to the Global Chief Data Officer and the CDO Management Team, contributing to financial decision-making and building credibility as a trusted advisor.
  • Take ownership of budgeting and forecasting activities within the CDO domain, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and proactively engaging stakeholders to drive financial performance.
  • Collaborate closely with the Financial Controller, ensuring consistency in financial reporting, compliance, and alignment across planning and actuals.
  • Deliver clear, data-driven financial insights, helping translate complex information into actionable recommendations for both operational and strategic decisions.
  • Support cost modeling, resource allocation, and efficiency initiatives, contributing to the design and implementation of value-enhancing financial strategies.
  • Manage the CDO Dynamic Plan, ensuring financial delivery against strategic targets and supporting the global sourcing and location strategy to optimize the data operating model.
  • Provide financial planning and analysis support for key transformation programs and strategic initiatives, ensuring financial risks and opportunities are well understood and managed.
  • Track and report on the financial performance of all ops related data activities across the Bank (approx. 2,500 FTE), helping ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with enterprise-wide data investment goals.

Your competencies

We hire exceptional talent for their potential, not just their experience. Our greatest expectation is that you remain intellectually curious, continuously learning, growing, and embracing new challenges. In return, we are committed to supporting your development and empowering you to evolve into an even more impactful and accomplished version of yourself.

  • A Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Genuine interest in banking and financial services, with a curious mindset toward market trends and developments.
  • Proven ability to translate complex financial and operational data into independent, strategic, and well-founded advice for senior management.
  • Ideally, you have at least 2 years of experience as a Financial/Business Analyst within a large matrix organization; however, this is not a strict requirement.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with financial modeling and data visualization tools is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities in English, with the capacity to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to seamlessly switch between high-level strategic topics and detailed operational matters.
