Job Summary

As a key member of an integrated cross-functional finance team, the Financial Analyst serves as an embedded finance expert. They prepare, research, and analyze financial and utilization data to support the department's objectives. Financial Analysts transform data into valuable information and knowledge, understanding how this information underpins key business processes and communicating these insights for maximum business impact. This role involves close collaboration with other financial analysts and clinical leaders to convert data into critical information that informs sound business decisions.

It is crucial for Financial Analysts to develop a detailed understanding of financial acumen to identify and address significant issues. They ensure the data provided is accurate, consistent, and reliable, making information readily available for direct use or integration with other systems. Financial Analysts work with customers to determine business requirements, set priorities, and execution of deliverables. 

The role involves facilitating information gathering, structured documentation, and presenting findings to various management levels in the Clinical Shared Services space which covers all regions at Corewell Health. Financial Analysts must possess a thorough understanding of the business environment and demonstrate a keen interest in delving beyond the surface to uncover insights. They effectively turn these insights into compelling narratives that drive impact and enhance decision-making. Additionally, they excel in a team environment, contributing to a collaborative and productive workplace.

Essential Functions

  • Performs statistical, cost, and financial variance analysis of data to evaluate financial performance and identify improvement opportunities across various levels of business.
  • Provides guidance on business issues including financial and profitability analysis. Develops solutions to problems of unusual complexity, which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation.
  • Serves as a consultant to assigned areas of the organization to support the financial goals and objectives of Corewell Health.
  • Detailed knowledge and hands on extensive experience in data analysis and critical thinking/problem solving.
  • In depth understanding of Excel functions to interpret, analyze and summarize large data sets into useful information.
  • Thorough understanding of visualization principles and how to tell a story with data – both in static forms such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Proven knowledge of financial acumen gained through educational or hands on experience (ie. Variance and trend analysis, relationships between revenue/volume and expenses, and budgeting).
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-directed with an ability to make quality, independent decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes, and multiple interruptions. Ability to maintain the strictest levels of confidentiality.
  • Ability to collaborate, openly communicate and present effectively across multiple entity disciplines, groups, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent Accounting, finance, business administration, economics, statistics or related field
  • 1 year of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or related work

Preferred

  • LIC-Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - STATE_MI State of Michigan
