Code for America is looking for a talented Financial Analyst who will assist the Finance team with a variety of accounting and finance duties.


About the Role: 

You will be an integral part of Code for America’s Finance Team, which is supporting the rapid growth of programs and infrastructure. Your primary focus will be to assist with Financial data analysis, reporting, and Accounts Payable support while training to advance your financial analysis skills. In addition to working within the Financial Team, you will interact broadly with other employees across the organization to ensure that accounting policies are followed, transactions are executed accurately and in a timely manner, and relevant information is reported. The Finance Team is currently composed of a Financial Analyst, an Associate Director of Financial Analysis, a Director of Finance, a Senior Director of Finance, and a Chief Financial Officer. 

This role will report to the Associate Director of Financial Analysis and is expected to travel no more than 5% of the time. 

Code for America is based in California and can employ those who reside full-time within the United States. This is a remote position.

 

In this Position You Will:

Accounts Payable Support

    • Manage the payments of vendor invoices
    • Review the employee credit card reports and employee reimbursements, including comparing receipts and approving reports

Reporting

    • Prepare the monthly and issue-specific financial reports for budget managers and senior leadership
    • Maintain the IT budget vs. actuals report

Data Analysis

    • Assist with data analysis within Excel to assist with tracking and reporting on budgets, and answer one-off questions from senior leadership
    • Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and IRS 990 materials

Training 

    • Learn all aspects of the other Financial Analyst role in order to provide coverage for them in their absences

About You:

The position is a perfect fit for a highly motivated and driven individual with a positive attitude and strong work ethic, outstanding time management and prioritization skills, and excellent collaboration and communication skills. You would also have: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years of accounting experience
  • Extremely strong proficiency in Excel

 

It’s a Bonus if You Have:

  • Strong proficiency in Sage Intacct or comparable accounting software
  • Strong proficiency in analyzing large datasets in Excel
  • Strong proficiency in Concur
  • Proficiency in Adaptive Planning
  • Non-profit finance experience
  • Start-up experience


What You’ll Get

Salary: 

Code for America’s salary bands are transparent as a part of our commitment to transparency and fairness. As part of our hiring practices, we aim to target the midpoint of the 2nd quartile of the range for all new hires.

Offer targets vary based on market / geographic location. The offer targets for this role range from $79,411 to $97,213 annually.

  • Remote Work:
    • Code for America employees may work remotely across the US
    • Code for America employees main residence must be within the US
    • Full-time employees work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday
    • Collaborative working hours: we aim to hold all internal meetings between 10 AM - 3 PM PT. We expect all Code for America staff to be available during these set working hours
  • Time Off: 
    • Open personal time off, a minimum of 16 paid holidays, and an org-wide closure from Christmas Day through New Year's Day
    • Paid sick time; up to 96 hours annually
