About This Internship
Arch’s internship program offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in the insurance industry. It provides challenging learning experiences that serve as a foundation for interns to explore their career choices and to develop professional skills. Working alongside some of the most talented members of the specialty insurance industry, interns will gain relevant expertise in various aspects of the field, participate in learning activities and receive ongoing feedback.
About This Role
Gain knowledge of the insurance landscape and the captive business through side-by-side training with members of the Captive Finance Management (CFM) team. Learn the insurance terminology and gain an understanding of the insurance process flow from the underwriting cycle through the financial cycle.
Prepare cession statements for an assigned book of business. This includes:
The preparation of the Reinsurance Statement of Account (cession/bordereau) to the Reinsurance Brokers and/or Reinsurers in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the terms of the Reinsurance Contract for an assigned book of business.
Preparation and processing of any Cash Receipts and Disbursements, and the payment and/or recovery of reinsurance. Preparation of Letter of Credit Funding Requirements on a quarterly basis and submission to Reinsurers/Captives.
Research and analysis based on client requests on an ad hoc basis.
Communicate and interact frequently with the Underwriting team, Reinsurers/Captives, and various external and internal contacts on day-to-day basis.
Complete key assignments/special projects that may be assigned on an ad hoc basis. This may include reconciliation of account balances on cession statement to the balance sheet, organization of captive files in our new structure, and various other projects.
Qualifications
Actively completing area of study in Accounting, Finance, or related program.
Minimum 3.0 GPA or higher.
College level - current Senior student, with graduation dates ranging from December 2026 – May 2027.
Basic understanding of accounting and finance principles.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to successfully communicate with internal Captive Financial Management team regarding work product and client inquiries.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables.
Entrepreneurial spirit along with the desire to be a continuous learner.
Team player who collaborates effectively.
Self-starter who can work independently and deal effectively with multiple tasks/priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Location & Work Arrangement
The program dates are June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026.
This position is classified as a hybrid position. You will work 2 days onsite and 3 days from home.
This position is located in Hartford, CT.
Relocation and housing assistance is not provided for this role.
Timeline

Pay
For individuals assigned to or hired to work in Hartford, CT, the hourly rate is $24 as of the time of posting. The breadth in the range exists to accommodate students in specialized programs such as actuarial candidates and graduate students. Any actual rate offered will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to geographic location, scope & responsibilities of the role, along with the education & qualifications of the candidate. The above range may be modified in the future. Intern position is eligible for select Arch benefits.
