About the Role:

As a Finance Intern, you'll dive into data and use AI-enabled tools to surface actionable insights that guide key decisions across the company. You’ll help enhance reporting systems, identify cost-saving opportunities through the review of existing agreements, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to improve financial performance. You’ll also learn how to work within an AI-native finance environment, using automation and analytical models to accelerate workflows and strengthen decision-making. This internship is a hands-on opportunity to develop your strategic finance skills, experiment with emerging tools, and directly contribute to Gusto’s growth and mission.

Our Finance internship is a 12-week hybrid summer experience focused on making a meaningful impact by embedding you directly into our Finance, BizOps & Strategy (FBOS) team. Each intern has a dedicated mentor and team manager who will support you as you onboard into Gusto’s AI-native systems, contribute to live projects, and help move the team’s roadmap forward.

Please note: We’ll be offering only one cohort start and end date (Cohort 1:  May 18, 2026 - August 7, 2026).

Deadline to Apply: Friday, November 21, 2025

About the Team:

You’ll join Gusto’s FBOS team, which partners closely with organizations like Customer Experience, Engineering, Product, Design, and Corporate Development as we scale to serve even more customers. The FBOS team drives financial, operational, and strategic support at the corporate, department, and product level. As Gusto evolves into an AI-native company, our team is focused on using automation, predictive insights, and smarter data systems to define and defend our business model while accelerating Gusto’s growth.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Work cross-functionally on high-impact projects that use data, automation, and AI-powered tools
  • Apply and develop technical and financial skills as you work through challenging analytical problems
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities and propose simple, innovative solutions
  • Assist with financial close activities, such as researching variances and preparing monthly reports, using AI tools to streamline workflows and improve accuracy
  • Document scalable finance processes and help build the next generation of AI-assisted reporting and controls

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • Currently enrolled as a rising junior or senior majoring in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and quick learning abilities, especially when exploring new tools or analytical methods
  • Comfortable leveraging modern AI-powered systems to learn, document, and optimize finance processes
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to translate data into insights
  • Brings a positive, service-oriented mindset to daily tasks and is motivated to drive meaningful outcomes for our Customers, Members, and Gusties
  • A structured thinker with exceptional attention to detail who can gather, analyze, and summarize information effectively
  • Demonstrates genuine interest in financial trends, technology innovation, and applying classroom knowledge to real business challenges
