State Street

Finance Automation and Analytics Lead, VP

Boston, Massachusetts Full time

Why This Role Matters

This role sits at the intersection of Finance, Technology, and AI—responsible for shaping the way State Street Finance operates in a digital-first, data-driven world. The Automation and Analytics Hub will serve as the engine for continuous improvement and innovation, enabling the Finance organization to operate more efficiently, make faster and better-informed decisions, and prepare for the next frontier of agentic AI.

The work done here will have lasting enterprise impact—defining how Finance leverages automation, analytics, and intelligent agents to deliver value for years to come.

Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on and visionary Vice President to lead this Hub from inception through maturity. Reporting to the Head of Data Solutions, this leader will design and operationalize the foundational infrastructure, processes, and delivery model that underpin Finance’s automation and analytics capabilities.

Initially, the focus will be on building the infrastructure and operating processes in partnership with Global Technology Services (GTS), delivering high-impact use cases that showcase tangible business value. Over time, the Hub will evolve into a hub-and-spoke model, establishing scalable governance, reusable assets, and shared capabilities across the Finance organization.

This role is also instrumental in preparing Finance for the agentic AI future—enabling low-code, no-code, and automation platforms that form the foundation for intelligent, autonomous agent solutions.

What you will be responsible for

1. Build and Operationalize the Hub

  • Lead the setup of the Automation and Analytics Hub infrastructure, processes, and environments in partnership with Global Technology Services (GTS) and enterprise partners.
  • Define foundational governance, access, and enablement frameworks for automation and analytics platforms.
  • Identify, prioritize, and deliver high-impact use cases that demonstrate measurable value and set the standard for future work.

2. Define and Evolve the Hub-and-Spoke Model

  • Design and operationalize a Hub-and-Spoke framework that connects the central Hub with Finance functional teams (“spokes”) to enable consistency, reuse, and scalable delivery.
  • Establish governance and certification models for low-code and no-code solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise data and AI strategies.
  • Continuously refine the Hub operating model to embed standards, training, and best practices across Finance.

3. Partner Across Technology and Finance

  • Collaborate with Finance business leaders to identify automation and analytics opportunities and prioritize based on business impact.
  • Partner with GTS and IT to design and deploy workflow and RPA solutions, ensuring sustainable delivery and integration.
  • Serve as the key interface between Finance, Technology, and Operations to ensure alignment, transparency, and value realization.

4. Governance, Standards, and Best Practices

  • Define enterprise-level standards for automation and analytics, maintaining a certified repository of data sources, dashboards, and reusable components.
  • Implement frameworks for performance measurement and oversight—tracking adoption, ROI, and business outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment with data governance, risk management, and AI ethics standards.

5. Enablement and Cultural Change

  • Develop and deliver training and enablement programs to strengthen digital, analytical, and automation capabilities across Finance.
  • Act as a culture carrier and change leader, promoting curiosity, experimentation, and digital fluency.
  • Build and nurture a community of practice across Finance to share best practices and accelerate innovation.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Finance transformation, analytics, automation, or data solutions within a large financial institution or consulting firm.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA, MS in Data, Analytics, Computer Science, or Finance).
  • Proven experience in building and scaling new capabilities such as centers of excellence, automation hubs, or digital innovation teams.
  • Strong hands-on expertise with low-code/no-code, automation, and workflow/RPA tools (e.g., Power Platform, Alteryx, UiPath, MS Copilot/Studio or similar).
  • Solid technical foundation, including practical experience with Python, scripting, or similar programming languages to prototype automation or agentic solutions.
  • Exposure to or experience in agentic AI, intelligent automation, or AI agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI, Azure AI Studio, or similar), demonstrating the ability to bridge automation with next-generation AI capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of Finance processes, data structures, and control environments.
  • Proven ability to work across Finance and Technology teams on infrastructure setup, governance, and scalable solution delivery.
  • Excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and inspire across levels.
  • Recognized as a change agent and culture builder, able to drive adoption of new tools and digital ways of working.
