Service Technician

Position Summary
The Service Technician is an essential and versatile member of the Plug Power Service Operations team. This role is responsible for the assembly, repair, and quality validation of Plug Power’s GenDrive fuel cell technology, GenEco Electrolyzer systems and various other skid- and panel-based systems. Ideal candidates for this role possess a background in manufacturing or servicing of electro-mechanical assemblies along with a quality focus and strong attention to detail. The Service Technician role is also very safety focused and committed to working in a collaborative team environment to achieve manufacturing goals.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostics and repairs on fuel cells and electrolyzer systems.
- Assembly of a variety of sub-systems and components utilized in Plug Power’s GenDrive fuel cell and GenEco Electrolyzer technology; assembly tasks are electro-mechanical in nature
- Complete service logs and incident reports
- Track and manage parts inventory
- Order tools, equipment, and replacement parts
- Communicate with customer personnel and internal teams as needed
- Ability to read, interpret and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and assembly instructions
- Operation of manual hand tools and power tools as required in assembly and validation work
- Execute field retrofits and upgrades on fuel cell and electrolyzer hardware & software.
- Operation of material handling equipment, including manual and electric power jacks
- Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and problem solving to diagnose system, sub-system, and ancillary component issues.
- Follow all environmental health and safety regulations in the course of work; compliance with all EHS safety standards
- Maintain proper housekeeping so as to promote a safe and efficient workplace
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational education/training is preferred
- At least one (1) of experience within a manufacturing assembly position; electro-mechanical assembly experience preferred
- High degree of manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude
- Comfort operating hand/power tools safely and efficiently
- Ability to work overtime as assigned and commit to a flexible work schedule around manufacturing demand
- Ability to operate a computer and perform computer transactions accurately
- Basic familiarity with Microsoft Office software programs
- Quality focused and detail-oriented
- Team player with a positive communication style
- Ability to stand and/or and sit for long periods of time in performance of job functions
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
