Key responsibilities
As the FCL and LCL Gateway Operations Manager (Malaysia Hub), you will lead a team managing both FCL and LCL Gateway Operations, ensuring smooth transshipment and consolidation services across the hub and driving productivity growth for gateway activities. This includes overseeing Maersk Ocean Forwarding (MOF) processes from customer engagement to financial operations. Additionally, you will lead the Control Tower function, coordinating across products and functions to enable operational excellence at the warehouse.
Your responsibilities include:
Operational Excellence
Deliver improvements to key processes to enhance productivity and service levels, ensuring on-time delivery and proactive communication to origin and destination.
Drive process efficiency, driving resolution timelines, and challenge business rules to improve end-to-end service delivery.
Ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies while resolving customer issues promptly.
Cost & Vendor Management
Develop and execute cost-saving plans aligned with procurement strategies to maintain a deflationary cost profile without compromising safety and reliability.
Build strong relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders, monitor SLAs, and minimize cost of non-conformance by providing alternative solutions.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
Build collaborative relationships with customers, instill confidence in LCL and MOF products, and convert challenging situations into positive experiences.
Share best practices and knowledge across teams and stakeholders.
People Leadership
Act as a people manager: train, develop, and motivate team members to strengthen capabilities and engagement.
Empower the team to propose viable solutions and actively involve them in operational changes.
We’re looking for
Minimum 2 years of leadership experience.
Strong background in Ocean and/or Supply Chain Management (mandatory).
Experience managing large operations or customer service teams in the logistics sector.
Knowledge across logistics products and processes: seafreight, less-container-load with consolidation service, supply chain management, and international trade.
Strong communication, assertiveness, resilience, and influencing skills.
Ability to thrive in a flexible matrix organization and present effectively in a multicultural environment.
High result orientation, urgency, and persistence in driving issues to closure.
Passion for operations and cost optimization.
