What you will do:
The Family Support Specialist creates partnerships with parents and their families to promote child well-being and prevent the abuse and neglect of children through intensive home visiting. Staff receive intensive and ongoing training related to trauma informed practice. By strengthening the parent-child relationship by improving parenting skills, reducing family stress, and meeting the needs of parents.

Responsibilities:

  • : Establishes a trusting relationship with at-risk families by providing regularly scheduled home visits from intake through enrollment up to 5 years for each family as determined by HFA Accreditation Standards.

  • Participates in weekly mandatory supervision, with a focus on administration, Clinical and reflective strategies.

  • . Ensure accurate and timely reporting and case documentation in written or electronic Healthy Families NY database and management information systems, within the required time frames.

  • Maintain at least a 75% home visit rate as determined by HFA Best Practice Standards and maintain a case load of up to 25 families.

  • Provide continuous outreach to families and community referral sources to maintain caseloads and program capacity as determined by Office of Children and Family Services NYS contract.

  • NYS mandated reporters and must follow HFNY policies and procedures related to the NYS law for mandated reporters which includes mandatory annual training.

  • Functions as a representation of HFRC/SPHP at community wide events and works collaboratively with community agencies.


What you will need:

  • HSD/GED Required.
  • Relevant experience working with children and families
  • A valid NYS driver's license required.
  • valid automobile insurance is required.
  • Can potentially travel up to 400 miles a month in both rural and urban communities and are reimbursed for mileage by the set federal reimbursement rate.

Pay Range: $17.85 - $22.20

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
