What we want
The Family Nurse Practitioner at the College of Nursing delivers primary care, evaluations, and treatment in a mobile school-based clinical setting. Provides primary care to students, faculty, staff, community members and families participating in the East Texas Nursing Mobile Clinic while working collaboratively with an interprofessional team. Travels to the various Mobile Clinic sites to provide services.

This position is funded from grant and/or contract funding which is renewed under the provisions of the grantor of the contract. This position, therefore, is contingent upon continuation of funding of these grants and/or contracts and satisfactory job performance.

Required Education and Experience
Master of Science in Nursing or higher with national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
One year directly related experience serving as a Family Nurse Practitioner
Preferred Qualifications
Proficient with electronic health records (eCW preferred)
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and techniques
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality
American Heart Association – Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
Experience working with individuals in rural or medically underserved communities
Active license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas
Active license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner in the state of Texas with prescriptive authority and national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner
CPR Certification
State of Texas class 'C' vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Responsibilities
Performs history, psychosocial, and physical examinations, diagnosis of acute, chronic, and urgent/episodic primary care conditions, formulates therapeutic plans, interprets laboratory and diagnostic imaging, electrocardiographic exams, medication management, and provides education to patients and their families.
Coordinates the care of patients to provide safe, efficient, effective, and timely patient-centered care. Liaises between clinical staff and consult services. Consults other members of the healthcare team regarding the care of patients as appropriate.
Orders therapeutic modalities such as medications, treatments, diagnostic tests, etc.
Performs primary care procedures and follow up care as needed.
Provides primary health care maintenance of the population served, including immunizations and recommended health screenings.
Maintains and monitors patient records and documents patient care as needed.
Counsels and instructs patients and significant others as appropriate on medications, disease, procedures, and preventative healthcare.
Serves on committees, providing presentations and participating in divisional staff development.
Fills in as driver for the mobile clinic van (which is a University vehicle) as needed.
