THE ROLE

The Facility Operations Manager is the primary building contact and oversees the proper functioning, daily operations and all necessary maintenance of the facility. In addition, the Facility Operations Manager will collaborate closely with the Director of Operations to coordinate logistics between the Petersen Events Center and the ASPC. When necessary, the Facility Operations Manager will escort various personnel throughout the building including inspectors, contractors, designers and administrators. Finally, during large events, the Facility Operations Manager functions as the official facility liaison and responds to any immediate building needs in coordination with the building engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of four Building Engineers including timesheet approvals, time-off requests, weekly scheduling and regular meetings with the lead building engineer

  • Enter and prioritize work orders within the TMA System including corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance and special departmental requests

  • Source, order and receive all repair parts as needed as well as any necessary building supplies, office supplies and durable goods such as tools and equipment

  • On event days, provide any necessary support for the event staff. Review event riders in advance to be sure that any engineering and building needs are fulfilled

  • Provide feedback and recommendations to the Director of Operations with regard to improving outcomes, increased sustainability and long-term success

  • Function as building point of contact for all vendors, contractors and service providers as well as all tenants including athletics, foodservice and housekeeping

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience        

  • Possess a High School Diploma, GED or college degree

  • Demonstrate comfort in the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, lifts and ladders

  • Experience in the use of scheduling software such as INFOR or WEB TMA is a plus

  • Basic ability to read and understand drawings, schematics and building blueprints

  • Working knowledge of shipping and receiving, dock operations or logistics

  • Combination of training and experience in building and event management

  • Ability or willingness to learn A/V fundamentals in supporting live events

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe Acrobat

  • Possess or acquire a CPR card which must be renewed every two years

Skills and Abilities

  • Ensure that the building and practices remain in compliance with OSHA, NFPA and all other applicable laws, regulations, procedures and university guidelines

  • Maintain the ability to work independently while demonstrating good judgement, solid work ethics, schedule flexibility and effective communication skills

  • Schedule all necessary yearly inspections and preventative maintenance visits for building assets such as fire protection, telescopic seating and scissor lifts

  • Sustain an effective, courteous and professional working relationship with clients, students, employees, patrons, staff, service providers, vendors and contractors

  • Have the flexibility to work extended or irregular hours including nights, weekends, holidays and emergency recalls as required

  • Manage and distribute the monthly building schedule and serve as the main point of contact for all building outages, closures and any disruption to the schedule
