Facilities Process Engineer

We are seeking a proactive and solutions-oriented Facilities Process Engineer to oversee and enhance the daily operations of our mechanical systems, including HVAC, chillers, and cold storage, as well as the Central Utility Plant (CUP). The Opportunity

Responsibilities

  • Analyze all current HVAC, Controls & Electrical systems processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement improvement strategies for optimal resource use, cost savings, and increased throughput

  • Ensure all Central Utilities Plant ammonia processes and training align with safety regulations and environmental standards, actively contributing to a safe working environment

  • Provide strong vendor management oversight to control costs, ensure excellent service deliverability, minimize potential safety risks, equipment downtime and drive for optimum asset life from our vendors throughout the lifecycle of their contractual relationship. 

  • Focuses on critical spare parts definition to minimize unplanned downtime. 

  • Gather and interpret operational data to monitor performance metrics, generate reports, and make data-driven recommendations for process improvements.

  • Investigate causes of equipment downtime, analyze data to identify patterns, and develop strategies to reduce or eliminate downtime.

  • Work with the maintenance team to create and improve preventive and predictive maintenance plans that enhance equipment reliability and extend the lifespan of assets

  • Identify sources of operational and production losses, including equipment inefficiencies and process bottlenecks, and implement solutions to minimize waste and improve productivity

  • Conduct root cause analyses for recurring issues, employing problem-solving methodologies like 5-Whys or Fishbone diagrams to understand and address underlying causes

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to downtime, maintenance, and losses. Prepare regular reports to communicate findings and improvement opportunities

  • Defines scopes of work and supervises contract labor for small and medium projects under some supervision.

  • Supervises contractor evaluation and selection process. Manages contractor inspection process to ensure safety and compliance

Who you are

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

  • 5 years in preventative maintenance practices, preferably in a biotech or diagnostic regulated industry, preferred.

  • 5 or more years in operating, maintaining complex mechanical systems (i.e. central utility plant).

Knowledge, Skill or Ability

  • Knowledge of HVAC, utilities, electrical, and energy management systems.

  • Experience in process engineering with a strong focus on maintenance and reliability in an industrial, manufacturing or facilities environment.

  • Must have strong vendor management experience to: develop vendor agreement for services, control costs, ensure excellent service deliverability, and minimize potential risks and to drive for optimum benefits from our vendors throughout the lifecycle of their contractual relationship. 

  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, problem-solving techniques, and maintenance management principles.

  • Knowledge of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), predictive maintenance tools, and loss minimization methodologies.

Relocation benefits are not available for this posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $80,800 - $150,000 USD Annual.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
