Location: Livingston

Salary up to £26,298.72 per annum

Contract: Full time – Permanent, 40hrs per week, Monday to Friday

About the Role:

We are looking for a Facilities Operative to join our team in Inverness. You will be part of our Facilities Management (FM) team, delivering a range of Hard, Soft, and Grounds Maintenance services to our clients. This is a key role, ensuring that maintenance, compliance, cleaning, and grounds tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

You will support the day-to-day operations of a school site, carrying out tasks such as setting up tables and chairs for lunch service, replacing locks, and performing general maintenance to ensure the smooth running of the facility. In addition, you will be responsible for statutory compliance duties for Mears Group, including flushing taps, checking boiler functionality, and undertaking manual handling tasks when required.

Your work will be carried out in line with agreed protocols and timeframes, contributing to a safe, clean, and well-maintained environment for staff, students, and visitors.

Role Criteria:

  • Experience in general maintenance tasks, including basic repairs and upkeep
  • Experience working in a similar role
  • Previous experience working within a Facilities Management (FM) environment
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures and work to agreed protocols and timeframes
  • Willingness to work weekends and participate in a rota-based schedule
  • Capable of working independently or collaboratively as part of a wider team
  • Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting and liaising with site staff
  • Understanding of statutory compliance duties (e.g. flushing taps, boiler checks)
  • Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks safely
  • Basic knowledge of cleaning standards and techniques for communal and specialist areas
  • Ability to use cleaning equipment and tools safely and effectively
  • Comfortable setting up rooms for school activities (e.g. tables and chairs for lunch service)
  • Awareness of health and safety regulations and safe working practices
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining high standards of service
  • Positive attitude and professional approach when interacting with staff, students, and visitors
  • Willingness to undertake training and develop new skills across Hard, Soft, and Grounds Maintenance
  • Ability to identify and report faults, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly
  • Experience working in school or public building environments
  • Basic IT literacy for logging tasks or completing compliance records
