We are an in-office company, and our expectation is that employees primarily work from their Applied Intuition office 5 days a week. However, we also recognize the importance of flexibility and trust our employees to manage their schedules responsibly. This may include occasional remote work, starting the day with morning meetings from home before heading to the office, or leaving earlier when needed to accommodate family commitments. (Note: For EpiSci job openings, fully remote work will be considered by exception.)

About the role

Applied Intuition is seeking a Facilities Manager to run the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of the company’s non-office spaces: vehicle garages, lab, and testing sites in the Bay Area. This role is positioned within the Facilities team and focuses on ensuring facility resources align with engineering, prototyping, and testing needs. This role will work with engineering, shop teams, and the facilities team to manage physical space; ensure compliance with health and safety standards; and coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders. This role will report to the Head of Places and be in lock step with the Workplace Backend Lead to execute on standards and best practices.

This role is ideal for someone who has had experience leading operations for garages, labs, and testing sites and thrives in a hands-on, technical, and fast-paced environment.

At Applied Intuition, you will:

  • Oversee all aspects of the facility’s garage and lab operations, including maintenance of building infrastructure, tools, safety systems, and workspace allocation
  • Manage scheduling and daily usage logistics for people using the spaces
  • Track facility assets, and ensure teams are properly storing equipment and materials
  • Lead facility health and safety programs, maintain compliance with regulatory standards, and document facility protocols
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate repairs through internal resources or external vendors
  • Support engineering teams with infrastructure needs for vehicle prototyping, hardware integration, and test activities
  • Liaise with building management, security, and external contractors to deliver services and facility improvements
  • Oversee onboarding and training for safe, effective use of labs and garage spaces

We're looking for someone who has:

  • 5+ years experience in facilities management or technical operations at a laboratory, garage, or comparable environment
  • Familiarity with building systems, facilities maintenance processes, safety regulations, and compliance best practices
  • Experience coordinating contractor services, repairs, and routine facilities projects
  • Strong organizational and scheduling skills with ability to support highly technical operations
  • Background in facilities, mechanical, electrical, or related engineering fields is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in facilities management, engineering, or technical discipline preferred
  • Ability to drive, to visit different locations from Sunnyvale to Sunol

There will be travel to other sites globally to advise on garage, lab, and testing site buildouts and operations - as little as once a year, as much as every other month. 

Compensation at Applied Intuition for eligible roles includes base salary, equity, and benefits. Base salary is a single component of the total compensation package, which may also include equity in the form of options and/or restricted stock units, comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage, 401k retirement benefits with employer match, learning and wellness stipends, and paid time off. Note that benefits are subject to change and may vary based on jurisdiction of employment.

Applied Intuition pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum intended target base salary for new hire salaries for the position. The actual base salary offered to a successful candidate will additionally be influenced by a variety of factors including experience, credentials & certifications, educational attainment, skill level requirements, interview performance, and the level and scope of the position.
