The Director of Facility Services is responsible for administering and directing programs to maintain buildings, grounds and equipment, to procure or generate all utilities and their distribution systems and coordinate these activities with the other departments to insure safe and efficient operation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. College degree OR Seven (7) years of facilities management experience in place of college degree.
EXPERIENCE:

2. Two (2) years' experience managing and supervising, preferably hospital personnel. Should include physical plants, buildings and grounds experience.

1. Assists in the creation, maintenance and promotion of the organization’s mission, vision, and goals with respect to safety and quality of care, financial sustainability, community service, and ethical behavior.
2. Assures staff accountability to perform all required duties and responsibilities through competencies, ongoing education and training.
3. Responsible for overall maintenance, in accordance with established practice of all mechanical and electrical equipment and systems in the hospital and within confines of hospital grounds.
4. On-call at all times to immediately resolve emergency situations.
5. Attends meetings and informs management of new developments
6. Interprets hospital policy/procedure to department personnel; resolves problems and issues with hospital department managers concerning utilization of facilities, equipment, and inter- and intradepartmental relationships.
7. Conducts safety inspections of hospital facilities to assess compliance with regulatory standards and regulations; develops and conducts formal Safety Training Programs.
8. Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates Safety Management Program through Environment of Care Committee activities.
9. Prepares statistics, graphs, and reports on safety incidents/ activities or hazardous conditions; corrects, if possible, safety concerns and hazardous conditions.
10. Plans, organizes, and conducts fire drills, disaster drills, and monthly environmental inspections; ensures department director’s inventory and monitors hazardous chemicals and materials.

11. Evaluates statistical reports for completeness and accuracy and forwards information as required, compiles data for Safety and various hospital committees, Medical Staff, and Board of Directors.

12. Works with Quality Assurance, Risk Management Director, and other hospital directors to implement committee recommendations, monitor effectiveness, and improve the Safety Program.

13. Plans, organizes, evaluates, and critiques the Hospital Disaster Program; plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) program.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
 

1. Knowledge of disaster planning and implementation; safety policies, rules, and regulations.
2. Possesses strong interpersonal and writing skills.
3. Possesses good computer skills, including word processing, graphs, spreadsheets, blue-print understanding, etc.
4. Possesses a pleasant attitude and ability to work with representatives from various regulatory agencies and all hospital employees, physicians, patients, and visitors.
5. Must have knowledge of building systems, plant equipment, safety codes and operating procedure; must be familiar and have an understanding of personnel policies, budgeting, management principles, recruitment and disciplines to promote harmony between departments, staff, and administration.
6. Must be knowledgeable and experienced with safety issues involving the Environment of Care, NFPA Fire Safety Regulations and Disaster preparation relating to the facility utilities management and utilization.
