Job Description Summary
This position provides assistance with fabrication, assembling, and installation needs for the maintenance department in order to maintain equipment and create efficiencies.
Job Description
Assists in fabricating metal structures and process piping; adjusts and assembles equipment from raw materials.
Makes modifications and performs upkeep on existing equipment.
Assists with line designs and comments on proposed changes and equipment.
Performs a full range of basic welding and fabricating duties, fabricates and repairs industrial equipment and performs other technical maintenance duties. Works with various types of materials – mild steel, aluminum, stainless steel.
Operates and maintains metal fabrication equipment and tools.
Reviews plant equipment needs with maintenance crew and management.
Repairs, overhauls, fabricates, disassembles, re-assembles, and moves equipment in and out of the plant.
Assists maintenance and production personnel in problem-solving activities.
Aligns and fits parts according to specifications, locates and marks workpiece bending and cutting lines allowing for thickness, machine and welding shrinkage and other part specifications.
Cleans and prepares surfaces to be welded, ensuring that there are no loose or thick scale, slag, rust, moisture, grease, or other foreign matter.
Clamps, holds, tack-welds, heat-bends, grinds, or bolts parts to obtain required configurations to weld parts in flat and vertical positions.
Completes assignments in a timely manner, keeping legible, detailed, and accurate records and logs of work.
Minimizes downtime by utilizing skills to create operational efficiencies.
Additional duties as assigned.
Basic & Preferred Qualifications
1-year related experience in fabrication and welding required.
Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing. Ability to understand instructions and follow directions in English, both written and oral. (Requirement may vary by location).
Must be able to be qualified within time frames established by facility.
Ability to perform basic math functions, required.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer operation knowledge, data entry skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office programs
