DuPont has an immediate opening for an experienced Equipment Inspector at our Midland Operations site.
RESPONSIBILITIES DESCRIPTION
As an Equipment Inspector, you will ensure the safety, integrity, and regulatory compliance of pressure vessels and piping systems used in industrial settings. This role is critical in preventing accidents and maintaining operational efficiency by identifying and mitigating risks associated with pressurized equipment.
Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:
Inspection & Evaluation:
Conduct routine and scheduled inspections of pressure vessels, boilers, and piping systems.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and permits for compliance.
Perform non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as ultrasonic, radiographic, and magnetic particle inspections.
Evaluate materials, welds, safety devices, and structural integrity for signs of corrosion, cracking, or other defects.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure adherence to industry standards (e.g., ASME, API) and local safety regulations.
Witness acceptance and installation tests.
Recommend corrective actions for non-compliance or unsafe conditions.
Investigate accidents or failures to determine root causes and prevent recurrence.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of inspections, tests, and maintenance activities.
Prepare reports for internal use and regulatory authorities.
Track inspection schedules and ensure timely follow-ups.
Stakeholder Communication:
Collaborate with engineers, contractors, manufacturers, and facility operators.
Provide guidance on preventative maintenance and safety improvements.
Train junior inspectors or maintenance personnel as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Your qualifications profile:
Required:
High School diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial inspection roles
Certification from recognized bodies (e.g., API 510, API 570, ASME).
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and pressure systems.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Proficiency in inspection software and reporting tools.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to strict safety protocols.
Work Environment:
Industrial facilities such as chemical plants, refineries, power generation stations, and manufacturing sites.
May involve working in confined spaces, high elevations, or hazardous environments.
