This position is for our Oakview Place Home, located in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Plans, organizes, directs and supervises the activities of the Maintenance Department, Housekeeping and Laundry Department, that enhances quality of life for our residents and quality of work life for our staff. 

  • Establishes and implements goals and objectives, policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements. 

  • Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, Preventative Maintenance Calendars, and Quality Assurance Activities, and department personnel in accordance with policies, procedures and legislative requirements. 

  • Liaises and consults with families/residents, government officials, company resources and professionals in relation to physical plant, grounds and department activities. 

  • Supervises the handyman and performs performance appraisals as to policy. 

What you bring: 

  • Possesses technical training in building maintenance. 

  • Possesses a post-secondary education.

  • Operator B certificate or journeyman status in carpentry, electrical, or plumbing an asset. 

  • Possesses sufficient experience to satisfactorily perform the responsibilities of the position. 

  • Extensive knowledge of commercial HVAC, Laundry,Housekeeping and Kitchen equipment is preferred. 

  • Previous managerial experience in long-term care as well as knowledge of applicable legislation, unionized settings and labour contracts 

  • Effective human relation skills 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally 

  • Organized and attention to details
