A caregiver in this position works second shift, from 2:30pm – 11:00pm. 

 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Create a sanitary, safe environment and enhance the appearance of the facility.  

  • Service and maintain cleanliness in patient areas, offices, restrooms, patient bathrooms, conference rooms, kitchens, lounges, therapy areas and other areas.  

  • Follow policies and procedures on patient isolation.  

  • Stock paper items and other supplies in patient rooms.  

  • Maintain carts and equipment in clean, working condition and store in appropriate storage areas when finished.  

  • Complete one to three months of on-the-job training to learn departmental policies and procedures, various cleaning techniques and proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals.  

 

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Basic reading and writing skills  

  • One to three months on-the-job training to learn departmental policies and procedures, various cleaning techniques, proper use and storage of cleaning agents and chemicals 

  • Must have a basic understanding of the age-specific developmental stages of patients served by the Hospital and demonstrate the ability to interact appropriately with patients of all ages

     

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • High school diploma or GED

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform work in a stationary position for extended periods

  • Ability to be mobile for extended periods of time

  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information

  • Ability to move/transport items weighing up to 10 pounds (lbs.)

  • Ability to move/transport equipment weighing up to 10 pounds (lbs.)

  • Ability to move/transport carts weighing up to or more than 100 pounds (lbs.)

  • Ability to inspect equipment

  • Ability to clean, operate cleaning equipment and use cleaning products

  • May come into contact with communicable diseases and/or body fluids

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
