Job Profile Summary

The Environmental Acquisition Specialist is responsible for leading the environmental due diligence, onboarding, and stabilization of newly acquired sites across North America. This role ensures that every acquisition is integrated into Circle K’s environmental compliance ecosystem on Day 1 and that all underground storage tank (UST) systems, environmental equipment, and compliance processes meet company and regulatory standards.

Acting as the primary environmental point of contact for acquisition activity, the Environmental Acquisition Specialist will coordinate closely with Real Estate, Environmental Compliance, Systems & Support, Facilities, Operations, and external vendors to assess risk, complete data integration, and stabilize environmental operations within the first 90 days post-close.

This role requires strong technical knowledge of UST systems, an understanding of regulatory requirements, and the ability to manage multiple acquisitions simultaneously while ensuring timely integration and operational continuity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

The position includes, but is not limited to, the following essential job duties, responsibilities and requirements:

  • Pre-Close Due Diligence: Review UST system data, historical testing, environmental documentation, and site compliance history to identify risks, liabilities, and potential capital exposure for prospective acquisitions.
  • Day 1 Integration: Lead environmental onboarding for all acquired sites, including ATG connectivity, alarm configuration, and system verification to ensure immediate visibility and monitoring.
  • UST Testing Coordination: Schedule and oversee initial tank, line, and containment testing within the first 30 days post-close to establish baseline compliance and identify early remediation needs.
  • Alarm & Work Order Stabilization: Monitor environmental alarms, service tickets, and vendor activity daily during the first 90 days to resolve issues quickly and minimize operational impact.
  • Regulatory Compliance Support: Ensure acquired sites meet all federal, state, and local environmental requirements; assist with permitting updates, documentation reviews, and corrective action planning as needed.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Real Estate, Operations, Facilities, Environmental Compliance, and Finance to align onboarding activities with business priorities and integration timelines.
  • Risk Identification & Mitigation: Detect high-risk conditions early, escalate concerns, and develop mitigation strategies to prevent regulatory violations or operational disruptions.
  • Data Accuracy & Documentation: Maintain thorough records of due diligence reviews, onboarding steps, testing results, and alarm history to support compliance audits and long-term system visibility.
  • Performance Reporting: Provide weekly onboarding and stabilization updates to leadership and Business Units; track KPIs related to TITAN setup, alarm levels, testing completion, and Day 90 handoff readiness.
  • Process Discipline: Adhere to standardized environmental onboarding workflows and contribute improvements that enhance speed, cost control, and compliance outcomes.
  • Transition to BU Support: Complete Day 90 handoff packages that summarize site condition, testing results, alarm history, outstanding issues, and long-term compliance requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Environmental Management, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in environmental compliance, UST operations, environmental due diligence, or related fuel-system technical work.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of UST systems, ATGs, containment components, testing protocols, and environmental regulatory requirements.
  • Due Diligence Expertise: Ability to interpret testing logs, compliance records, permits, violations, and historical environmental documentation.
  • System Proficiency: Experience with TITAN Cloud, ATG connectivity, alarm monitoring systems, or similar compliance platforms preferred.
  • Vendor Coordination: Demonstrated ability to manage testing vendors, environmental service providers, and multi-stakeholder workflows.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with U.S. federal, state, and local UST regulations, permitting requirements, and environmental recordkeeping standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to assess risk, analyze system data, and identify environmental deficiencies or operational gaps.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical details into clear, actionable information.
  • Collaboration: Effective at working across Real Estate, Operations, Facilities, Environmental Compliance, and Finance to support rapid integration.
  • Organizational Skills: Able to manage multiple acquisitions simultaneously while maintaining accuracy, timeliness, and attention to detail.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel up to 25% for site assessments, vendor oversight, and integration support.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and evolving business needs.
