JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Technician will lead the testing/fabrication/assembly/test instrumentation of vehicles, sub-systems, and parts/components; perform configuration changes and repairs of vehicles and test stands, and following appropriate engineering procedures, standards, and specifications. The objective is to validate new product designs as part of new product development as well as resolve issues on sustaining products. The Senior Technician will serve as a mentor, guiding and teaching colleagues for the purpose of personal and professional development. This role will provide exemplary technical support to the customers of Oshkosh Corporation and Test and Development.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive; other duties may be assigned.

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians in the testing of prototype and current production components.
  • Develop knowledge of vehicle systems (electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic) to conduct tests, record results, troubleshoot issues, and perform configuration changes.
  • Assist engineers and senior technicians with the assembly and disassembly of complex mechanical structures, systems, and components.
  • Operate machine shop and laboratory equipment to prepare and evaluate test samples.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment by following all safety procedures and using proper protective equipment.
  • Support the maintenance, calibration, and general upkeep of test and laboratory equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with engineers, peers, and supervisors to ensure accurate execution of test plans and documentation.
  • The Engineer Test Lab Technician SR contributes directly to the validation of new product designs, supports ongoing product improvement, and ensures the performance, safety, and reliability of Oshkosh Corporation products.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Technical diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.*
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and automotive terminology.
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and regulatory requirements.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and problem-solving ability.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office Setting: Tasks may include extended computer use, data entry, and participation in technical meetings.
  • Shop or Field Setting: Work may involve standing for extended periods, moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds), climbing stairs, and exposure to varying noise levels and temperatures.
  • Requires the ability to shift between detailed cognitive work and hands-on mechanical tasks as needed.

Pay Range:

$56,600.00 - $88,400.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
