Location: Belfast
Contract: Full-time, Permanent, Hybrid (2 days per week in office)

EverQuote is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our growing team!

EverQuote is seeking an engineering leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong interpersonal and managerial skills. As a leader on the Sites team, you will play a key role as you work closely with engineers/teams to improve the efficiency, throughput, on time delivery, quality, platform extensibility, and engineering culture.

​​What You'll Be Doing:

Design and delivery of key business applications and solutions.

Coach and mentor junior engineers within the team and organisation

Adhere to our Software Development processes whilst improving our Engineering culture by 

identifying and addressing inefficiencies in our processes

Proactively engage with cross functional stakeholders including Product Managers and Architecture team.

Essential Criteria

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential criteria:

  • A third-level degree in an Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.

  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional programming experience, including time spent at a software product company

  • Prior experience as an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead with a track record of growing high-performing teams

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills

  • Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to align technical execution with business priorities

  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language (e.g. Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, etc.).

Desirable Criteria

It would be an advantage if you also possess any of the following:

  • Experience with UI development, especially in React or other modern frontend frameworks.
  • Strong knowledge of microservice-based architectures.
  • Familiarity with secure development practices.
  • Experience mentoring or managing engineers.
  • Exposure to engineering systems or applications at scale.
  • Experience using continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI).
  • Experience in at least one of the following technical areas:

    • Supporting cloud platforms at scale (AWS)

    • Working with Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

    • Container orchestration environments (preferably Kubernetes)

    • Observability platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
