Cloudera is looking for an Engineering Manager for our Quality Engineering (QE) team in Bangalore, You'll be managing QE teams focused on Cloudera's Data Engineering and Data Warehouse platforms (part of the Cloudera Data Services Platform). The main goal is making sure the features and releases for Cloudera's Data Platform products are top-notch.
As an Engineering Manager you will:
Leading a team of Quality Engineers and being their technical guru.
Making sure the team follows QE best practices and testing standards.
Working closely with everyone: platform/UI engineers, developers, UX folks, Product Management, etc.
Mentoring, coaching, and guiding your team technically and for their careers.
Helping design and maintain automated testing frameworks (Python/pytest preferred, or Java/TestNG/JUnit).
Knowing your way around Test Planning, Test strategies, Methodologies, Test cases.
Being good at debugging, especially with distributed systems on Linux.
Figuring out test scenarios for new features involving Big Data tech
Designing and keeping up CI/CD pipelines for speedy, smooth releases.
Handling all the staffing stuff: hiring, interviews, promotions, salary reviews, and performance plans.
Running the day-to-day for the QE team in an Agile/Scrum setting.
Strong knowledge in back-end testing (Web Services, Databases, distributed systems, etc.).
Experience with containerization like Kubernetes and Docker.
Know-how of Public Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) and/or Private Cloud (Openshift/Rancher).
Strong understanding of Distributed Systems and building stuff to scale.
Ability to lead architecture/design and give technical direction
We’re excited about you if you have:
A degree in Computer Science (BE, MS, or Ph.D.).
10+ years of experience, with over 2 years in management at a Data/Big Data product company.
7+ years as an SDET/test engineer using programming languages.
Great communication skills (talking and writing).
Solid grasp of Quality Engineering best practices.
You may also have:
Experience with Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, data engineering, and data warehouse.
Experience architecting large application automation and containerized setups (Kubernetes, Docker).
Programming chops in Golang, Python, or Java.
Experience working with Big Data technologies.
Knowledge of Data warehousing, SQL, query performance, and relational databases.
