Role Objective

The Engineering Manager leads a team of developers to deliver scalable, maintainable, and forward-looking software solutions. This role combines strong technical leadership with a passion for team growth and product excellence. The ideal candidate enjoys building reliable systems, mentoring engineers, and exploring how emerging technologies—particularly AI—can strengthen our engineering processes and products.

Success in this role requires clear communication, solid technical judgment, and an ability to guide projects from concept to completion. The Engineering Manager partners closely with Product, Design, and other departments to align business goals with technical feasibility, ensuring every release delivers measurable impact and sets the foundation for future innovation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of learning, ownership, and high performance.
  • Oversee the full development lifecycle, including planning, architecture, delivery, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Collaborate with product managers to translate business needs into actionable engineering goals and deliverables.
  • Drive technical decisions around system design, scalability, and reliability, while balancing innovation with practicality.
  • Maintain high engineering standards through code reviews, design discussions, and continuous process improvements.
  • Support the professional development of each team member through coaching, feedback, and growth planning.
  • Coordinate with QA, DevOps, and Security to ensure smooth deployments and operational stability.
  • Encourage responsible exploration of AI tools, automation, and developer productivity enhancements.
  • Contribute to hiring and onboarding new engineers to build a diverse and capable organization.
  • Track and report key engineering metrics related to delivery speed, quality, and operational health.

Technical Skills

  • Software Architecture & Design
    Strong understanding of modular, scalable, and maintainable system design.
  • Development Lifecycle Management
    Experience with Agile, Scrum, CI/CD, testing frameworks, and release processes.
  • Programming Experience
    Skilled in backend, frontend, or full-stack development. Language-agnostic.
  • Cloud Infrastructure
    Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and containerization.
  • Data & Analytics Tools
    Basic proficiency with SQL, dashboards, or data-driven decision-making for engineering metrics.
  • AI and Automation Tools
    Interest in leveraging AI-powered developer tools, automation frameworks, and productivity enhancers.

  • Leadership & Team Development
    Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate engineers while upholding accountability.

    Effective coordination with Product, Design, QA, Operations, and other business partners.

Qualifications

Professional Background:

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or technical management role.
  • Experience in SaaS, fintech, or high-growth startup environments is preferred.
  • Demonstrated success delivering production systems, improving engineering processes, and mentoring developers.

Education / Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Agile or cloud-related certifications are a plus.
