We are seeking a motivated and curious Engineering Intern to join our team for a hands-on learning experience with real-world engineering challenges. This internship will focus on firmware OR hardware engineering supporting our Power Systems Forensics department in Pullman, WA. In this internship you will contribute to projects that make electric power safer, more reliable, and more economical.
A typical day as an Engineering Intern might include the following:
Collaborating with engineering teams to solve real-world technical problems.
Assisting in the design, development, and debugging of embedded system hardware or firmware.
Participating in project work enhancing the efficiency and capabilities of engineering processes.
Learning through mentorship and practical application.
Documenting findings, contributing to team discussions, and presenting project outcomes.
This role might be for you if:
You are familiar with programming languages like C, Python, etc.
You are an excellent self-learner and have a passion for learning and delving into topics that are within and outside of your technical focus area.
You are detail-oriented and tend to seek a deeper understanding of any subject material.
You have strong problem-solving skills, effective communication and work well in a highly collaborative environment.
You have an interest in systems-level engineering and hardware/firmware integration.
You are a Hardware Engineering candidate who:
Is currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Understands the fundamentals of analog and digital circuits and various test equipment used in electronics labs.
May have prior research or project experience related to memory components, microprocessor, microcontroller, FPGA and digital signal processors.
You are a Firmware Engineering candidate who:
Is currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Has familiarity with C, C++ and Python.
Has experience with microcontrollers, debugging tools, or embedded development environments.

Pay Range Data ($19.50 - $29.50 per hour) - Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
School matters. SEL managers work with their interns to arrange flexible schedules that accommodate classes and studying while working part-time during the school year.
