Idaho Power — headquartered in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Distribution Standards Engineer I or II to join our Methods and Materials team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Distribution Standards Engineer do for us?
This individual provides critical knowledge and expertise necessary to efficiently operate and maintain our distribution power system. This position will work in our Methods and Materials group, who is responsible for creating and maintaining construction manuals, equipment specifications, and work practices essential for operating and maintaining a safe, reliable, and economic power distribution system. This entails providing consultation and guidance to field employees and customers to ensure that proper design and construction practices are followed. The position also evaluates new technology and equipment to improve performance of the system and coordinates closely with vendors, manufacturers, and key stakeholders including field personnel to gain resolution to issues as they arise.

Engineer I
Operating under general supervision and with oversight, an Engineer I is developing technical expertise in their field. This role plans and leads assignments and projects, may interface with internal departments and external organizations, and receives guidance from leaders and other engineers as needed.
Engineer II
Operating under limited supervision, an Engineer II has an intermediate level of technical expertise in their field. This role plans and leads moderately complex assignments and projects, interfaces with internal departments and external organizations, and receives high-level guidance from leaders and other engineers as needed.

This is an office position with occasional field work, it requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people.
