What You Will Do

Pratt & Whitney is seeking an Aero Thermal Fluids Engineering professional, working under supervision. Designs, develops, and tests power plants, aircraft, and parts, formulates conceptual design of certain products, and develops advanced models. Performs system level analyses and prepares technical reports.

  • Perform aerothermal services ensuring on-time delivery and technical quality required of work performed. Responsible for low complexity tasks within functional discipline under supervision. Make significant contribution to team by applying knowledge and skills of the discipline and work with high to moderate guidance on low complexity projects.
  • Perform low to medium complexity computational fluid dynamics and / or finite element thermal processes (from geometry generation to documentation of results) with a variety of tools for specific engine components, processing rig and engine test data, verifying manufacturing variability, as well as other similar tasks.
  • Perform low to medium complexity steady state and transient performance comparison packages which can include data vs. simulation, model to model, control to control, and engine to engine.
  • Support low to medium complexity customer requirements and validate results for onsite engine testing, reduction of steady state and transient data, and other requirements as necessary.
  • Review test procedures and instrumentations.
  • Attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required.
  • Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using CORE tools and support AS9100 certification efforts. Become a CORE Apprentice.
  • Based on business needs, may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.
  • Travel is up to 10%.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Basic understanding of a gas turbine engine
  • Experience in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and skills in ANSYS (including FLUENT) or equivalent a plus
  • Programming experience in VBA, C++, Visual Basic, MATLAB, Java, and / or Perl/Python a plus
  • Exposure to Windows and Linux Operating Systems a plus
