Position:       Industrial Designer    
Division:       PE/SDC

Location:      Suzhou, China
 

Objective

  • Accelerate the industrial design process for new products, enabling faster time-to-market and improved project efficiency.
  • Enhance the overall industrial design capabilities of the Suzhou team, establishing a benchmark for quality and innovation.
  • Foster a culture of creativity and collaboration within the Industrial Design (ID) team, driving breakthrough solutions and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Lead ID to detail the 2D or 3D sketches.
  • Industrial Design of products within our power tools, outdoor and household product ranges.
  • Manage daily industrial design responsibilities for the supported projects
  • Create compelling designs based upon Ideation, Research and Product Requirements
  • Support the full design process from concept development to mass production.
  • Helping support the Stanley Black and Decker brand by promoting high-quality design and consistent standards in appearance, product feel, fit and finish, color and print
  • New Product Ideation and brainstorming support

Education/Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Industrial Design, 3–5 years of proven experience with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking and the ability to propose innovative and effective design solutions.
  • Deep understanding of design principles and a keen sense of brand aesthetics.
  • Solid experience in designing for manufacturing processes, especially plastic injection molding and metal die-casting.
  • Proficient in CAD and illustration software (PS); strong hand sketching skills and the ability to create 3D concept models (Rhino, CATIA, Pro-E preferred).
  • Detail-oriented, with the capability to advance high-quality designs through to production and supplier collaboration; excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously; strong project and time management skills.
