Major Duties:

  • You will obtain technical data and information on unusual equipment and subsystems.
  • You will examine technical data for the assessment of equipment, subsystems or material characteristics to understand operation and problems.
  • You will prepare formal reports/procedures on new processes or equipment.
  • You will test and ensure the equipment is accurately calibrated.
  • You will resolve problems encountered by lower-level technicians and is responsible for demonstrating and guiding them.
  • You will be involved in various aspects of electronic repair/calibration performed with the RADIAC Calibration Laboratory Program.
  • You will provide similar assistance to Field Calibration Activities, Tenders, and Shore Intermediate Maintenance Activities and other Naval activities as requested by the Naval Sea Systems Command.

Qualifications: To qualify for a GS-09, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience using, calibrating, and repairing standard and generalized electronic equipment. Experience demonstrating knowledge and skill with computers and instrument controllers. Experience analyzing engineering literature, procedures and technical drawings. Experience applying knowledge in calibration methodology and quality control processes. Experience designing, constructing, testing, and evaluating electronic, electrical, and electromechanical measurement systems.
