Electrical Engineer

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support of plant floor electronic test equipment including PCs, Custom test stands, databases, etc.

  • Design and build of new electronic test apparatus

  • Develop and perform operational, maintenance, and testing procedures for electronic products, components, equipment, and systems.

  • Develop and maintain critical documentation, such as technical specifications, test procedures, SOPs, etc.

  • Programming of new and support of deployed software programs and repositories

  • Participate in R&D tasks of new products including design and FMEA analysis

  • Execute ECN/ECO to implement engineering changes.

  • Participate in lab activities such as system bring-up, testing and debugging, stress/long duration tests, etc. 

Required Skills:

  • Experience with Programmable Test Equipment, Digital, Analog and RF Circuits

  • Software Knowledge: LabView, C, C++, CMD, Tera Term, .NET

  • Knowledge of test sequence engines like NI TestStand

  • Software repository usage like: SVN, GIT

  • Knowledge of RF circuitry or basic theory

  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

  • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT).

  • Experience with various lab equipment, such as real-time oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, protocol analyzers, logic analyzers, etc.

  • Electronics failure analysis to root cause conclusion

  • Communication protocol/hardware interface knowledge, such as RS232, RS485, USB, SPI, I2C, Flash, ADC/DAC, WiFi/Bluetooth, and Cellular.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Project management experience juggling multiple projects

  • Design for EMC/EMI to meet agency compliance such as UL, FCC, CE

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Automation, Controls, or Process.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of waterworks’ systems including valves, pumps and related equipment would be an asset.

  • Experience with SolidWorks/Creo Electrical/Mechanical and AutoCAD would be an asset.

  • Experience in Siemens, Allen Bradly, and Horner PLC platforms would be an asset.

  • Experience with simulation tools.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification

  • ESD best practices

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to remain in stationary position or standing position for prolonged periods and alternate between

  • Ability to repeat gross or fine manipulation that may include the use of wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including, but not limited to, safety glasses, steel-toed or metatarsal-guarded shoes, and/or ear plugs, while working in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment. 

  • Ability to constantly communicate with others to exchange information in person, via phone, or via use of computer.

  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects up to 25-50 pounds in weight in all directions.

  • Ability to occasionally reach overhead or at or below shoulder level.

  • Ability to occasionally stoop, crouch, or kneel.
