About the role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Editor/Publisher II to review, edit, and audit summaries, headnotes, and other annotations created through generative AI processes for caselaw documents, following established guidelines. The role includes identifying legal issues, assessing the precedential impact of cases and statutes cited within opinions, and applying the appropriate history and treatment letters or phrases in accordance with approved standards. The position is homebased, preferably in the Durban, Johannesburg or Cape Town metropolitan area. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and validate AI-generated legal content against original case text for accuracy and completeness.
  • Edit content to meet defined quality and customer standards.
  • Create original summaries and annotations when needed using PC-based tools and software
  • Analyze complex legal issues and apply appropriate treatments based on guidelines.
  • Ensure timely delivery and high-quality output.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team and perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Law degree (LLB or LLM) or equivalent legal qualification.
  • Strong analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Familiarity with UK law.
  • Comfortable supporting US working hours 14:00PM to 22:00PM SAST (Subject to change depending on business needs)
  • Ability to work independently and seek clarification when needed and comfortable working remotely.
  • Excellent reading comprehension and issue-spotting skills.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability to changing priorities and business needs.
