Team / division overview

DWS’s data infrastructure team is responsible for providing the secure, scalable and trustworthy foundation for storing, processing and distributing critical enterprise data. As Data Platform Engineer, you will work on the design, built, and continuous improvement of our cloud-based data platform as part of a high-impact squad.

Role Details  

As a Platform Engineer (m/f/d) you will (be):

  • Model, test, collaborate (to understand requirements, create stories, and design solutions), implement and help test requirements
  • Design and develop reusable building blocks for data ingestion, transformation and distribution
  • Design and develop infrastructure components in Terraform or other IaC and infrastructure automation tools
  • Collaborate with architects, security engineers, control functions, the Chief Data Office and other stakeholder to improve compliance, security posture and reliability
  • Work with your product owner to translate product vision and demand into actual implementations

We are looking for 

  • Some years of experience in platform engineering or an adjacent field, preferably with strong focus on enterprise data platforms. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is a plus
  • Strong expertise in the modern data stack, including cloud-based data platforms such as GCP BigQuery, Snowflake, and the ecosystem around them
  • Experience in operating production cloud infrastructure, e.g. on Azure or GCP
  • Proficiency with IaC (e.g. Terraform), automation tooling, orchestration tooling (e.g. dbt, Airflow)
  • Very good programming skills in Python and/or Java
  • Experience with development utilizing software development life cycle (SDLC) tools including Git, JIRA, Artifactory, Jenkins/TeamCity, OpenShift
  • Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking and attention to detail
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)
